Will there be any performance boost when using Sampletank in standdalone mode?

I'm not to familar with standalone synths but how can I set up my system so I can see what buffer size I can use without getting clicks and pops.

Will there be a "vst-performance" meter like in Cubase for example?

I plan to use it with a laptop, so does anyone have some experiences with Sampletank 2 and laptop computer?

Thanks a lot

There will probably be some "performance boost" because your regular VST host / sequencer won't be running (using CPU and memory). Effectively, SampleTank2 will have the whole computer to itself (or as much as any application can).

You can probably use your audio interface's control panel to set your latency. I think there will almost definitely be an CPU meter (maybe memory too) with ST2.1

Forever,

Kim.

Has anybody got ST working with RT Player Lite from sampletank.com?

It works with AmpliTube but ST dosn't show up as a choice. I've pointed it to the proper directory but no luck.

I'm using SampleTank all the time and I sure would like to get it working stand-alone.

Thanks!

I do this all the time with TobyBear's free Minihost.

Stand alone should be prety good on the CPU. Looking forward to it myself for live with the laptop (in addition to my Receptor of course).

That is extactly one of the reasons I went with SonicSynth/Sampletank and the KeyStation88 Pro (USB Powered). I wanted play with my laptop live anywhere. It's a sweet setup that's entirely expandable. Another reason was for the quality and quanity of sounds. Nothing out there comes close.

For live it is really awesome to have all of those sounds and the autheticity with the vintage sounds really makes a big difference if you want to capture a certain style or sound.

@squids and @chrisma: What notebook do you use for SonikSynth2 to play it live, could you give some infos please?
I'm planning to buy a new laptop in the near future and I'm just interested in what's working best with SonikSynth and Sampletank! :D

Best regards

Sonys are pretty good. I have a VIAO. But, I am thinking about making a custom one that is beefed up. I'll let you all know. There are a couple of companies that make them to your spec.

Good one Dave! I think a lot of people are wondering the same thing.

Cheers,

Yes indeedy. I'll be interested to hear what you decide on, Squids. The chances of my being able to get a laptop out of the company are slim but one can dream, no? :-)
