Using a fader as mod wheel

I use a Yamaha Clavinova digital piano as my controller. Since it doesn't have a pitch bend or mod wheel, I was thinking of using one of the faders on my UC33e to control the modulation. Anyone tried this? I don't think anything on the UC33e will help for pitch because none of the controls spring back to the center position. I wish they made a standalone pitch bend/mod wheel. I may look into finding a very small joystick that I can sit on the piano and use one of the joystick to midi plugins. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Chisel

there was a thread recently about here in which someone was using a joystick for midi control. You could serach the forums, but other than that, I don't know.

MIDI OX should be able to translate your knob's CC value to CC no. 1 (mod wheel).

Just assign it on the unit to CC value 1. You don't need MidiOX

It sounds like he can make it work, but the problem is that the faders do not return to 0. Is there an easy way to return it to 0 in Midi w/o readjusting the fader?

Wow, you guys reply fast! Well here's an update.. I picked up this $5 PS2 dual-analog pad today at lunch. I already have the PS2-to-USB adapter so I'm hoping this will serve my purpose. Check it out...

I'm using Tobybear's MCC and it works with the left analog stick only. That's really all I need because I map one axis to pitch bend and the other to modulation. Anybody know of a joystick to midi converter that uses both sticks on a ps2 dual analog controller? This is great and it was only $5!
