"Tsunami Sound Design Competition : Part 2"

Since the last of the Tusnami Sounds Sets has been released, Zvon and myself have been making arrangements with a few companies so we could host a competition and a giveaway that will hopefully increase the sales of Tsunami Sounds Volumes 1 and 2. There are a ton of really great prizes to be won...so whats the catch and how will these events increase sales? Simple, you have to buy at least 1 of the volumes to play the game. ; ) Details on both the competition and the giveaway are below.

Competition:

This competition will be a song writing competition. Sounds easy enough right? the catch is, that you can ONLY use sounds from volumes 1 and 2 of the tsunami sounds sets. There are 10 prizes available for this competition so the winning tracks will be split into 10 categories....for example, Strangest Song, Most Original, etc..etc. The competition begins today, April 1st, 2005 and runs until April 28th, 2005. At that time, Zvon and myself will just the entries and select the winner for each category. Exact guidelines for submissions are below:

1. Song's must be at least 2 minutes long......please do not sumbit any entries that are longer than 4 minutes.

2. All submissions must be in mp3 format.

3. You may only use sounds from the Tsunami Sounds Collection volumes 1 and 2, with the exception of drums and vocal samples.

4. You may submit your track either via an attachment to an email or by uploading it you your own site and sending us the link to download. In either case, entries should be sent to competition@totcproductions.com

5. You may enter more than 1 song into the competition to qualify for different categories, however, you can only win once.

6. If you have won a prize in our first competition, you are not eligible for this one.

As long as the above requirements are met, any and all songs will be seriously considered. The categories and the prize that will be awarded for each are as follows:

Category Prize
--------- --------
1.Best Overall Sonalksis Multiband Bundle (worth over 450 dollars!!!)
2. Most Original Linplug CronoX 3 VSTi. (when released)
3. Most commercial sounding Fxpansion DR-008 VSTi
4.Strangest Audio Damage Mayhem VST Suite
5. Worst Overall Maxx Claster eJ VSTi
6. Most likely to be played in ToTc's car. SonicBytes EST VSTi
7. Most likely to be palyed in Zvon's car. Anamark Anamark Pro VSTi
8. Most likely to end up in a movie soundtrack. Wusik.com Wusikstation VSTi
9. Most likely to end up in a smut film AudioRealism Bassline VSTi
10. Most likely to get you on a "Where are they now" episode. SonicBytes ERA VSTi

Ok, so some of them are odd categories, but at least you'll be able to have some fun with this, and the prizes are well worth the offort. So GET TO WORK!!!

Now, what about this giveaway I mentioned? Here's the details on that....Everyone that purchases a Tsunami Sounds Volume will be entered into a random drawing for 10 different prizes. If you have bought volume 1 in the past, you will already have been entered into the drawing once. You can enter up to 2 times, by purchasing both volumes 1 and 2. So, to recap, if you bought volume 1 any time before this was announced and you purchase volume 2, you will have 2 entries in the hat. Got it? Good. The prizes up for grabs in the random giveaway are as follows:

1. ConcreteFX Kubik VSTi
2. Les Productions Zvon Prepared Rhodes Soundset (Multiformat)
3. Pro-Sounds PS-1 VSTi
4. EVM Synths Dvx Vega VSTi

6. Audio Damage Digitalis Bundle
7. Elemental Audio Neodynium Plugin
8. SoftPlug Adventus VSTi
9. ManyTone Productions Manystation VSTi
10. Dangerous Bear Underground pH0 Bundle

Sounds great right! And all you have to do to get the chance to win one of these fabulous products is buy a volume or two. And the money goes to charity, so you feel good and so do we. ; )

Any and all questions should be mailed to competition@totcproductions.com

Thank you all for your continued support, and hopefully this will help us make alot of money for south asia.

Peace!

what a great competition, especially since all the money goes towards Tsunami victims.
But I understand you just collected the patches. So it's really just Patcharena.com on a CD :P

So you say "song". Does it have to have vocals then? Or is it more the kvr definition of a song then ie. an instrumental tune will do?

Post

This is a great and very original competition. even reading the original post, and understanding the categories, is a lot of fun :). And it's very well thought out. Do we have to specify the category? or should that be implicit? (Maybe a dumb question, seeing a category like 'best overall' ...).

Aaah, you're wrong there dude. We actually had a competition before to collect completely original soundbanks for volume 2. Volume 2, with the exception of 2 or 3 earlier submissions, is completely made up of original material exclusively made for this effort. You won't find these patches available ANYWHERE else. ; )

No, you don't have to have vocals...yes, instrumental compositions will do just fine. ; )

peace!

Thank you hans. No, you don't need to specify a category...but it would do us a great service if you would list any of the prizes that you own already so if you win, you are not rewarded something you already have. ; )

Aaaah, vitaminD...thought i'd see you hear considering there's the possibility of getting something for free. To answer you're question, though i doubt it was meant to be answered, no, you can use any patches/kits/samples included in volume 1 and/or 2. ; )

Yeah, I found out. I ordered it before you and before clicking submit, it was already in my inbox :-o ok, almost then :D

Vitamin D:  Not sure about that. I've already started on a track, but it's not very John Williams-ish so far I'm afraid :P
