Hi KVRers... :)

i want to create some sort of GM compatible soundfont for a new VST ROMpler that i´m planning.

thus it has to include typical sounds like piano, some drums, bass, flutes and stuff...

my dumb questions is, where to get/record/sample/whatever these sounds?

does someone know a site where i can borrow instruments to record them on my own? or are there alternatives? is there at least one way foor a poor guy like me? ;) by the way i see difficulties "lending" a steinway  :hihi:

any hints or tipps really appreciated

:D

nope, because i´m planning to do a soundfont-based VSTi ROMpler... and i want to record/produce all the sounds on my on ;) that´s why i´m asking!

i want to start with basic elements like drums, some guitar and bass ...(similar to edirol super quartet, i think) and later adding more sounds and stuff.

I'm not sure if there's a *site* where you can borrow instruments, and in addition you'll need to *play* them as well. Can you play all the instruments? with enough skill to create different velocities etc.?

What I know from other initiatives like yours is that the creators are very skilled at sampling the instruments, that means: having them available, being able to play them (or have someone playing them), have a good sound studio + top microphones to record it, have expertise to process the samples, and create the presets incl. looping etc.

You could try to ask Paul (Manytone), Squids (eSoundz) or Mr Papelmedia (.de) in person how they did/do things...
