Audio Editors

although i'm not exactly in the need for an audio editor with the support of redbook audio CD and dVD Audio just yet, but in a store last evening i noticed Wavelab 3.0 for 99 bucks and am thinking that maybe it was a deal. Version 5.0 sells for around $700. Is there that much difference between the two versions? What's the most economical editor that handles redbook?
