Project5 v2 as substitute for Sonar - Groove clips

Hi

I've been thinking about sonar4 SE for some time because Tracktion lacks proper loop recording and some more features that I'd need. T2 is an improvement, however, there's still groove clips feature that I'd like to have and since Project 5 v2 seems to have it (and a lot more) it'd be great if I use it with T2.

What do you think?

hm... kind of hard to tell at the moment but from looking at the P5 V2 site it seems like it will be a killer-sequencer :hyper: :-D

...and update price is only 79$... :hyper:

and I can buy P5 V1 for 129€ over here... - and apparently the upgrade is free if I buy it now...

where in Germany? I'm in Frankfurt next week anyway.

here in Cologne http://www.musicstore-koeln.de
- but tbh I'm not sure that it qualifies for a free upgrade as it is distributed by Edirol Europe and the f**kers do not even have announced P5 v2 - I really hate Edirol Europe - they are usually messing up what can be messed up and their pricing/upgrading policy is hilarious - nothing you can rely on ...

I am in the same boat with regards to Edirol. I can get Project5 from Edirol for £99 as I own Sonar 4PE, but there is no mention of it being eligible for a free upgrade to v2. I considered emailing them about this, but just because someone may reply by email that it is eligible doesn't mean that it will be true.

I even bought my Sonar 4 upgrade from Etcetera as they seem to have a far better reputation than Edirol do...

jens - be careful about buying and then upgrading - I thought there was some sort of cut-off date

More questions:

As we don't have a distributor here in Slovenia, would it be ok if I buy it from musicstore-koeln.de?

What's the deal on upgrades then?

I think I'm gonna wait for the demo anyway (or buy it at the Musikmesse in frankfurt if at all possible)

...P5 at music.store is only available at the shop (not online)...but i´ve heard that cakewalk has produced some extra last P5 V1 units for shipping before 21st april...maybe for a last cheap blowout...

..and í´ve also seen it at ebay usa for 149$..

Well whatever the case is with Germany will be the same for the UK and anyone else who falls under the umbrella of Edirol Europe...

However, after Cakewalk received a lot of criticism after the Sonar 3 release regarding the US getting better deals than everyone else, they made a lot of effort to get things more unified worldwide for the Sonar 4 release and I must say they did a pretty good job on that front. I guess the only way to know is to get an official word from either Cakewalk or Edirol on this...

I was just at the Cakewalk site having a look.

I'm not sure how Project5 and Sonar compare. What are the different intended uses for these two.

I see that project5 has no seperate mixer and I'm not sure if it has track effects inserts for EQ, etc.

I'm also not sure why you would use Project5 with Tracktion and not instead of Tracktion.
