I hear good things about it, but I'm concerned about the following, from their version differences table:

Number of VSTi (native support with single outputs): Unlimited (Samp Pro)

Does this mean it only supports one audio output per VSTI? Doesn't seem likely, but what else could it mean?

In general, if I do a significant amount of VSTI work, is Samplitude a reasonable choice? It clearly started out as an audio-only app. What weakness (and strengths) does it have in VSTI-land?

no... samplitude8 is ok to work with vsti
but in my opinion it works better as midi seq or for audio work (rec/cut/etc.)
