I was wondering if there are any free programs that can be used as a standalone sequencer, supporting multitrack recording/playback, MIDI sequencing, VSTi's, etc. I am trying to compile a list of quality, free software.

Shareware registration is in course of preparation.
Please use latest beta version until it will be ready.
And you can try out all the functions with no limitations.

ok the producer beta is free and the Independence (without whatever limitations) should be shareware but it is in preparation, since a year now

yes, like you said: the producer is free and that's what I was referring to.

Beta or not is irrelevant in this case, isn' it...

There's the tracker route I suppose. Psycle has Audio, MIDI, and midly functional VST supposrt. reViSit, BeRoTracker, and Skale Tracker also have Audio, MISI, and VST support. The free version of Renoise is fully functional with three tracks, only "render to wav" and ASIO support are disabled.

Delta SP apparently only has a registration annoyance. It apparently does MIDI and audio also. I was thinking about trying it out myself to see how it's VST creation works. Rather odd looking program.

What else do I have stuffed away in these bookmarks...?
