There is also the issue of using Cakewalk's material in a composition to promote your own product. I wonder if the licensing agreement that came with the Cakewalk material prohibits this sort of use?

No problem there, I have checked with them and done it in the past (the Bach piece for the Prepared Rhodes demo). I have also contacted them for this one.
