I bet I come across like a real dick at times...soulata wrote:we're not all that bad, jens.jens wrote:You can e.g. set-up Sonar's (I guess by now the Tracktion fan-boyz have switched of their receiver)
it wasn't meant to isult anyone and with no hard or agressive feelings - I can't stand the temptation to provoke others at times and to wind them up but I don't mean to harm anyone...

I'm just getting sick of the word "fanboy" being thrown around. I am a FAN of Tracktion, and it's a real annoyance when I'm in the middle of defending my sequencer of choice by demonstrating why *I* think it's more intuitive or better laid out in some particular way, when someone just blithely throws out, "you just can't see because you're too much of a fanboy."
It's condescending and uncalled for. Why should anyone have to justify being a -FAN- of something? I found Tracktion, liked (no, loved) the way it worked, and DO think that it's uncluttered.
On that point: You can't compare two unalike things. Clueless' example may have been over-the-top and tongue-in-cheek, but it does take one important thing into account: sure, you CAN make other programs LOOK uncluttered, but then you have to dig through menus (in some cases) or contend with anti-workflow things (ie. your MIDI editor may look nice and clean there, but can you line it up with your audio track in a meaningful way?) in order to give it the appearance of cleanliness.
So, yes, you can grab some uncluttered screenshots, but are they still including all the same functionality, or have you simply reduced the view to its most basic level at the expense of other functions?
The only thing I don't like about Tracktion 2's workspace is the MIDI toolbar, which I find instantly makes your screen look a bit of a mess.
Fanboy? What the hell is that supposed to mean? At least be creative about it: For example, "Just because Jens' heart skips a beat at the mere thought of eXT doesn't mean that eXT doesn't have a long way to go in implementing some key features."
See? I got to condescend without even using that annoying word, "fanboy".
Greg

don't know if you're being serious, Greg, but you once called me 'eXT's biggest fanboy'... - do you maybe suffer from amnesia? Should I dig out that post of yours?

yes, all the functionilty is still there...Lunch Money wrote:

you really got it from the wrong end there - quite obvioulsy you're so much biased by prejudice that you just can't seem to bvelieve that other sequencers are simply much better than Tracktion at certain things...
well - and that's what makes you a fanboy!

<chuckle>
I may have used fanboy at some point in time in the past before I got annoyed by it.
It's not beyond the scope of believability. I also used to answer the phone with "Whazzzaaaap!" when it was funny.
Your point, Jens?
I don't know from Podium, so I can't comment... but I DO know from eXT to a certain degree, and there are certain functions between the two programs that make drawing a comparison very difficult. For example, the need in eXT to open a separate editor window to edit MIDI or audio is seen by you as a benefit, and by me as an annoyance, especially since even that individual window isn't zoomable (unless it's finally been changed).
HOST WARSSS!!!

more proof of that a major difference between you and me is that I made my homeworks - in other words: I really know what I'm talking about!Lunch Money wrote: For example, the need in eXT to open a separate editor window to edit MIDI or audio is seen by you as a benefit, and by me as an annoyance, especially since even that individual window isn't zoomable (unless it's finally been changed).

facts:
- eXT has an 'intrack' editor for both: midi and audio
- you can zoom the in-track editor for each track individually
- you can resize the in-track editor for each track individually
- eXT remembers the size and zooming factor for each track when you close it and re-open it
has this major flaw of Tracktion been improved for V2? No, not in the least!
bad example, Greg, really bad example!
