Im in the US...Anyone know of a good way to get a hold of Computer Music and thus the 202 and 404?
Also IS there a copy of each with every issue or am I out of luck in that respect?

Post

If the plugs are still in the current issues you should be able to get em at most but not all Barnes and Noble stores, as well as Borders, and/or Tower Records. If you're near a Virgin Megastore I know the one's in NYC at least carry them as well.
I'm sorry this post wasn't about techno.

if they are still in the current issues...this was my big question.

What is in the current issue? the 404?
Does that mean the 202 is no longer avalable in any way? seams like a gross waste...
Is there any other way to get a hold of them aside from getting back issues shiped from the UK?

Post

the pluggins are included, just not the libraries.
sometimes there are new librarys in the new issue. thats what is exclussive to the issue, is the banks and patches for the 404 of 202. so you can get the 404, just not the orignal library that shipped with that issue of CM

someone correct me if i'm rong

JDG - you're spot on. DS404 and SR202 (and CM101 for that matter) are included on the CD of every issue of CM. However, you won't get the 640mb of samples that were shipped on issue 50 unless you get that particular issue.

On the contrary ...

I've got the Computer Music Magazine Issue 50 CD in my CD drive right now. I'm looking at the files and there is no SR202 nor CM101 anywhere in sight. Only DS404 stuff.

Ok, what am I missing?

Dave, have you looked at the issue 50 CD? Did I somehow get a "poor-man's version"?

Who can explain this -- and other mysteries of life? :)

p.s. I got my copy of Issue 50 & CD straight off the Computer Music web site and mailed from the U.K.

Issue 50 was a 2-CD issue. One CD was dedicated to DS404, with 640mb of patches (make sure you download the patch updater before using them though). On the OTHER CD there should be the normal full library section with CM101 and SR202 on them.

Cheers

Well, my copy only came with one CD. I guess I got the short end of it. :(

If you got the DS404 CD you did just fine 8)

Download the patch fix and you've got 640mb of good sounds for DS404 ready to rock and roll. You can get CM101 or SR202 of any other issue you might come across in the future, but you won't get those patches again

Thanks, Dave.

You are right -- I'm holding onto the patches! :) And I've already ordered the latest edition of CM magazine; so I should be in good shape regarding the rest of it soon.

Appreciate your comments,

Jim

here's a link to an ebay auction for a cm #50 that didn't sell. i bought 5 cm mags from this guy and he is a good seller.

you might just email him and ask him if he still will sell it...
