I still prefer to record everything in T (works for me - fast&efficient) and mix too.

Project5 has Track FX inserts with no limit.

Found this bit of info on the P5v2 info page :

I've bee a P5 v1 owner plus Sonar. In the beginning I used P5 more for the novelty value, but I have not used it for some time now. For the real cheap upgrade price I will still take the upgrade simply because of the content comming with it. I am still using the DS864 synth often (hope v2 will have new sample content) and the new dimentions synth with 3GB would be worth the price many times over. I trust rgc audio to deliver.

Too bad it isn't cross-platform or I'd really consider it. I wonder how it'll be resource wise. And of course it probably doesn't do VST without the buggy wrapper, right? Looks sweet though. I'm sure it will be killer. Too bad Cakewalk gave up the Mac market.

It looks fine (I only want groove clips feature and some additional sounds never hurt).

I still think I'll wait for the demo and won't buy the 1.5 version just in case.

Yeah. In a time when the dinosaurs still roamed the earth and humans still communicated through grunts and clubbing each other, Cakewalk did release a Mac sequencer. I can't remember what it was called, but I think they only ever did one version and abandoned the Mac market from then on...

Jens: I don't know when the Edirol Europe site was updated, but there is now a news item on the homepage that confirms that European users will get a free upgrade to version 2 if they purchase P5 now. The offer finishes at the end of April.

With the Freeze feature being present in v2, I don't think the resource issue will matter too much.

I am curious as to why whenever a Cakewalk product is mentioned by a non-user, they always refer to the wrapper as being 'buggy' or in a negative way. Apart from one or two plugins, I have had very little trouble with the wrapped plugins and judging from posts around here, it seems every other host which doesn't wrap VST's still suffers from problems with certain plugins. I wonder if Cakewalk built the wrapper into the actual host itself, so it scanned at startup like the other hosts, whether we would see an end to this somewhat redundant criticism that is levelled at Cakewalk?

I've used Sonar 3 and 4, own Metro for Mac (kind of withering on the vine these days

), and don't have a negative view of Cakewalk at all. I had some crashes when using VSTs so that's why I think the wrapper is buggy.

I'm not down on Cakewalk and would love to see a Mac version of P5 since I want cross platform apps whenever possible. You never know what hardware you may get in the future and I hate to be tied down, Unfortunately, I don't think I'll ever want a Win-only app, since I like OS X much better. If I win the lottery, I'll be buying the best Mac on the planet, not the best PC. Ok, talking about lotto, need sleep. Peace.

If you mean Metro then they just distributed it for some time but weren't involved in the development of it.
