If you want a totally clean guitar, I would recommend the QL '56 Strat for Giga http://www.soundsonline.com/sophtml/det ... u=QL56STGS(just convert it to Kontakt as I have done). Run that sucker through Amplitube...and you are smokin...

Lyrical Distortion is my main grab when I want some real power. It also has a nice subtle tone as well. The combination of both is amazing!

Max :)
Beat me to it. :)

Those are all clean guitar sounds.

The way I figure it is that if you have nice, realistic, completely clean guitar sounds, and you then put that through a commercial amp sim, it can sound extremely realistic, because some people use those same commercial amp simulators with their real guitars.

If you're really picky about effects, go route your soundcard out to a real amp and real pedals and then put that into the input and record from there. So there you go -- virtual guitar playing through a real amp and real effects.

As you can imagine I prefer using virtual amps and effects, since the setup is a lot less hassle. :)

what about www.vintaudio.com

I got their guitars free in the piano group buy - very nice but only 16bit i think. (edit website says recorded at 24bit and dithered with apogee down to 16)

Kind regards

Dave Rich.

Revitar v2 is well worth a look, very flexible and can sound good through amp sims. Various presets for Revitar AND amplitube, JCM9000 etc are included.

would be nice to have a clean ,warm, powerfull humbucking guitar sound.(to then apply distortion)
or can i just obtain the same sound from doubleing a single pickup sound?

I am curious how the VintAudio electrics compare to the Sonic Reality clean electric guitars. I think one good point about the Vintaudio guitars is the programmed "swell" (I think it actually plays a lower note and moves up to the note you want to play). It seems to help create a realistic sound.

I think to get good chords, I wonder if the played chords themselves need to be sampled, rather than just to create the chords based on individual sampled notes.

No, you can't just double the single pickup sound, because the variance in position of the pickup drastically effects the tonal qualities of the sound. That's why P pickups on a bass sound so different than J pickups.

Since our product is mentioned we would like to shed some light.

Lyrical Distortion is a very express and powerful set of samples that can produce results such as http://www.beladmedia.com/lyrical-distortion-demos.htm for a small price of $149.99. Some guitar libraries are 4 times as much. LD1/Update 1 is about to be released and is free to all users. This update includes many clever articulations such as foot pedal control and more.

Last, LD1 is the first volume in the series. There are 6 volumes in total to be released. Each volume will be $149.99. You could purchase three volumes and still be under the cost of other libraries.

Each volume will focus on a genre of guitar. Clean and direct is in the works as well as an extended version of LD (Lyrical Distortion)

Thank you,

Well, for the crunchy rhythm riffing Lyrical Distortion is way the most natural sounding, IMO. And it's sampled to a drop A on a seven string also, which is cool!

BTW even though it's sampled dirty it still responds really well to further processing.

I'd like to add another vote for the excellent I-can't-believe-it's-free-ish Ultimate Guitar Kit. MR. Gregjazz, you rock!
