Hmmm... It's not perfect... but after using Logic 7.0 and Reason 3.0 lately, nothing is... Too much marketing pressure on features is killing stability and "plain old" usability... I've been a commercial artist for 25 years, and sometimes I wonder who is designing some of the software I use daily?? Certainly not the "real" users...

IMO, this is what makes Tracktion great. Jules designed Tracktion originally for himself to record his guitar and other things. He was tired of Cubase and others not being designed for the sake of workflow. He created what became Tracktion, from a musician's perspective. He didn't want the bells and whistles of having screws and hardware interfaces. I think he was rather successfulDHR53 wrote:Hmmm... no offences...but I tried the demo...and looks more like 1.8 than 2...the MIDI part was really improved and the inputs....but the rest, I don't see anything radical. and I expected an increase in screen smoothness (even on my P4 3ghz scrolling feels heavy)

It's always struck a bad thing when a leap of faith is required when it comes to commercial audio software. I would only pay for it if it did what I wanted it to do. As we're talking about the demo here, safe to assume that faith in future development is of little concern to the demo users.
That said, I've noticed this odd insistence in threads about Tracktion that it should replace Cubase in function. Same happens in enegyXT threads. If you want Cubase, use Cubase, they've been doing it for twenty years and so have had time to add a lot of things into it. Let Tracktion be Tracktion and judge it accordingly.

I was just using a figure of speech about having some faith because the poster assumed that his problem just wouldn't be fixed. Every time you buy a piece of software, you show some faith in the developer. You show faith that if there are problems, they will be fixed. That's all I meant. But it's true, every time you buy any software.
Second, I mention Cubase because that's what Jules has mentioned when talking about programs that he used. And personally, that's where I came from. Besides, even Cubase has used ideas from Tracktion(whether directly intentioned or not, it is there). Well, why didn't they just do their own thing?
But I agree, let Tracktion be Tracktion. It is what it is, and I believe it's best days are ahead of it. And it's a completely different beast than most of the competitors.Maybe that's why some people don't like it.

With T2, you need to look far beneath the surface. You mentioned that it still looks the same. Well, most of it's new features can't even be seen. I personally don't notice any worse screen reaction. In fact, to me, it seems a bit more polished, even on my 1.3GHZ PC. That's not saying that it reacts the same to everyone though. Still though, don't expect to find too many visual improvements, although there are several. There are many important things added that can't be seen that help Tracktion raise to the next level. Again, most of this is my opinion, in case I didn't mention that. Cheers!

I'm talking about things like broadcast wave file support, 64 bit mixing, things like adding hotkey options for going through effect presets. Some are big, some are small. Plus, when you really look around, through the menus, hotkeys, manual(which is fantastic!), etc., you will find many more, including a whole lot of things you CAN see. But that's the kind of things I was talking about.
By the way, how cold is it still this time of year in Canada? I really want to take my wife there for a vacation sometime, and don't know if it ever gets warm or not! Sorry for being naive!

Well, keep in mind Canada is an extremely large country! Its different weather all over, depends where you want to go. That said, here in the prairies it was 10c today, with clear skies and a warm breeze. And yes, it gets very warm. It summer where I live 40c isn't uncommon for weeks at a time.

I wish it was that easy... to just use the one with "the features you want"... My problem is it's a combination of 3 or 4 which is too much hassle with the limited amount of time I have... Which is why someone would put up with something not being "perfect"...
I will say it's odd, that after creating my own "interface" for T2, I feel strangely more comfortable with it... flaws and all...
But it takes a strange combination of factors to make one or the other easier to live with... Do you use more audio... midi... PC... Mac?? I've noticed a few little cool things here lately like selectable velocities (in a drop down menu)... for the midi clips... nice! The option stretch audio clips (after Logic) is just too easy... And the way it should be... And is in Cubase! Hmmm... say that's 3 different programs
