Well I am also eagerly anticipating the new version, as I really at first didnt see any value or even use project 5 version 1.0, but I gave it a second look outta bordom and what i found amazed me.

Things that improve when using Project 5 within Sonar are #1; Resolution which is imo one of the most important things to improve in working with music as it gives you finer control or editing and quantization, speaking of which I never use unless I need the actual quantize feature but when you have a boost in resolution it improves your song timming and actually it's something so sublte that you wont even notice or might not even pick up at first.

#2 Being able to call up your fav synths in an instant so you can get right to work, also i like the GUI that Project 5 has, it actually makes your soft synth's look better and more uniform.

#3 Upon release of version 1.5, I found alot of bugs cleared up and found the product to fit in more with Sonar instead of fight to work together with it, afterall I found it odd at first that project5 would have any bugs at all considering its orgin and purpose, but with any new product theres bound to be a few quirks and to me version 1.5 fixed all of them cept for 1. "still cant use the early count -in function which is a pain in the arse btw"

So in the end using Project 5 gave me tighter control over my compositions and overall better sound quality because of that alone, which even though its not a synth or effect unit , because of the increse of resolution you will end up getting a better overall sound using this product.

talking of price upgrades, whilst I'm not complaining, their price structure sure is weird. I've actually become rather interested in project 5 since I've read about these new features. Not sure if I'd actually need a proper sequencer but saw the offer on edirol's site for sonar 4 SE and Project 5 for 200 quid. Not bad, and I assume I'd get the free upgrade. What's silly is the fact that for an extra 70 quid, I can upgrade SE to PE and get all the extra features.

Now, doesn't PE cost, like 300+ quid on it's own? Shouldn't someone tell their accounts dept?

mmm, that looks like a great offer, but I couldn't find anything on free upgrade there.

I wouldn't take it for granted.

Heh! I've mailed sales at edirol to confirm it one way or the other. I'll post the reply, once I get it, on the off chance anyone's interested.
