Last night was my return to playing with a band after a 9 year hiatus. Truly, nothing has changed in the bar scene in that time, either. It was pretty much a gig from hell, but some of it was fun, playing with friends, getting drunk and paid for doing it!
There was a 'sexy girl' contest..I noticed one girl, and thought she looked familiar and then it occurred to me that it was one of my eldest daughters friends from childhood..talk about feeling old!
My setup was the Keystation Pro88 driving my laptop with Orion setup with B4, Imposcar and Pro53. My clavinova keyboard took care of the Motif rack and Korg M3r. I tell ya,
B4 sounded freakin' awesome, got a lot of comments on it which were especially nice in light of the fact the guy I replaced had a real B3.
All in all, it was a very long night (9-3) but the reception from the band and the new girl singer raving about my playing and singing (Let It Be) made it a pretty fun time.

Must add, in all my years of playing I've always leaned more toward the piano type sounds..but B4 sounded so great I stayed on it for about 90% of the evening.

none. the motif and korg are already drenched in fx..trappist wrote:Blue....what external effects (if any) are you using onstage?
I used a bit of the Orion reverb on the vst's.
@topaz
@normal
very encouraging, especially since I was using my old Thinkpad (P3). My Dell with Centrino should be in Monday, and I'm going to load it up with everything I've got!

oh, the difference time makes! 10 years ago i was working fulltime, going to college part time and playing in a band (practice and weekend gigs)..here it is tuesday morning, and just now starting to feel ok, after a weekend of whiskey, beer, (just a little hit of) weed and little sleep.
Got the new laptop yesterday; now to start reading manuals to figure out how to take advantage of the 60 knobs and sliders on the controller.

I always say anyone gigging regularly in the clubs past the age of 40 either has a trust fund or a calling for it. Welcome, bluedad, to the fraternity of Old Farts Still Making Noise - always nice to see another fellow graybeard still rockin' the house.

and I see we're close to the same age, chronologically and mentally!
I remember reading a city papers review of a local band, saying they looked like they belonged more to the PTA than a rock band..that image has always troubled me.
