http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/W ... 5.7.11.1.3

Even if I'm still on 5.5.1/PC, this is looking like a great update.
Full PDC and a LOT more of things.

Well, ttoz - I am INDEED the last person you'd need to tell about.
Even Logic 5.5.1's audio engine (mind you, a 3 year old antique sequencer) is around 100x as efficient as SX's.
Yeah well, no offline bounce and no freeze - but you just don't need them as badly as you do in SX.

In Logic I have an autoload with tons of instruments and effects called up, ready for instant use.
Freaking impossible in SX because they would just bring my machine to a halt without any note being recorded/played.

So far I haven't needed anything else, but that 7.1 update is looking really good. Maybe it's about time to save some more money...

Steinberg posted a patch to SX 3 yesterday that's supposed to fix this problem. Still, it's a buggy beast.
When I was younger I used to be in doubt. These days I'm not so sure.

Uh, Reason 2.5... that is! The beauty of Reason is going away with 3.0. AFAIK! It's just sort of sluggish, right now! Maybe they'll optimize it, but in the meantime the browser is slow, and the combinator is capable of some cpu frying mayhem... sort of defeats the purpose of Reason to me?

all of them, you mean on mac platform ?

on PC, the world isnt about steinberg and logic, plenty of other great hosts (SawStudio, Samplitude, PT) have surpassed cubase (IMO) and have some features better/different then the old logic (but still standing strong), but arguments can never ever be settled because it depend WHAT and HOW you use them. Some point I have to agree with you, logic is the mother of them all (on every platform), it shines on every possible feature there is.

I'm not complaining about it anymore. Seems like Apple finally got it right. I'll let you guys know if it has the sort of stability that 5.5 had on PC, or mac for that matter. I found 6 to be pretty stable, but 7 hasn't been for me, for a lot of people it is, but I use a ton of NI stuff, PSP, and Pluggo, and Live isn't as prone to crashing as Logic 7.... They had to do a full rewrite of Logic to implement PDC, and maybe they also managed to improve AU performance, and over all stability.
I basically use Logic as a composing tool for LIve 4 anyway, ( that super CPU efficient audio engine is the same on mac as PC, just blows away the competition ), and full PDC for busses and Aux tracks is REALLY needed for drum/percussion mixing. Plus all the included tools make it perfect for refining loops to use in Live( the pig among pigs! ) , for live use. Hell maybe it's stable enough now to be comfortable playing Sculpture live on my 800mhz powerbook?
