CSR-1 Classik Studio Reverb

www.ikmultimedia.com

Here's my short version take on this. There are a lot of great convolution reverbs out there now. I like them and they are good for simulating realism for an acoustic space. They don't typically offer a lot of parameters to control the sound plus they do sound different than some great classic studio reverbs like that from Lexicon, AMS etc. So, CSR-1 is a highly programmable extremely high quality reverb for your studio. Ever wanted something like a 480L? Me too. :D

Down here in Oz, CSR is a brand of sugar... so if you're telling me I'll be able to put sugar on my sounds... 8)

Forever,

Kim.

LOL, my guess was WAY off. The reverb sounds really cool. I'm most anxious for Philharmonik, though. The demos sound great!

Thanks again Squids for making the Sampletank sounds retro to Jan 1st. I keep telling everyone I know to buy from Esoundz and to use my name as a referrer to get their epointz. :D The extra soundz for Esoundz SS2 and ST2 customers sounds cool. I'll look forward to that.

Is there gonna be a World Capsule????????? Please say there will be! I know, I know, you said downloadable World Sounds. I'm anxious for that, too. Lot's of cool stuff coming up.

BTW, got any insights I can pass along to the Project 5 forum? Everyone over there is all excited about what you have in store for Project 5.

Rellik wrote::o so Philharmonik is not dry samples after all? Well :( ... I guess I could live with that... have to see

And the instruments are pre-positioned - are the samples actually recorded in stereo from their normal positions, or is their pan parameter just pre-assigned? I would hate to be stuck with panning positions that I didn't want, and be unable to change them since that would mess up the stereo positioning and make it sound artificial - hopefully it's just pre-set pan knobs.

Hm... :( not a good day for Rellik's orchestral plans... maybe I should have gone in on the Gold group buy after all... but who knows! Maybe something better and with a good price will come along after all :) and it's nice to hear about the SampleTank 2XL library upgrade!
Rellik, if I remember correctly most patches were in stereo but there were also some mono versions (at least this was the case with the Roland version of the String Ensembles).

The samples were in my opinion dry at least in the sense that you definitely needed to add reverb.

Btw, you shouldn't regret you didn't join the Gold group buy (as you're looking for dry and non pre-positioned instruments). But I love the sound!

I also love GPO and I am sure I'll fall in love with Philharmonik as well. :)

Hmmm. Officially from IK I think it is March 1. I was speaking for esoundz, which would do that its customers of course. We did a lot of the sounds for the new sound set. Hope you like it!
I'm sorry, Squids, but this is blatantly untrue. I got this off their website:
This huge update will be available FREE to all SampleTank® 2 XL users who registered between January 20th and the official release of SampleTank® 2.1. So you don’t have to wait to get this amazing instrument. Order SampleTank® 2 XL Now! and check for even better prices through our network of valued IK dealers! Previously registered SampleTank® 2 XL users will be able to purchase the 2 DVDs for only $/€99 (previous SampleTank® 2 L users will be able to purchase them for $/€ 199).
I think it's very unfair to change the grace period once you have announced one (by more than a month). I hope they reconsider their position (and no, I bought the upgrade after the 20th but not before 1st of March, so now I don't qualify and before I did, so you can guess I'm a bit annoyed. I didn't buy it off you, though, so I don't think you can do anything about it). Cheers,

I'm sure the grace period has not been changed. I think Squids was just mistaken when he said he thought the date was March 1st.

Whatever date is given on the IK website will surely be the one IK stands by.

No, not really... The date when you click on today's press release says 1 March. However, the one that issued right after NAMM said 20 January... I think they should be careful with these things or people will get very annoyed.
Cheers,

Coltell

You're right I just saw the press release.

Well in that case I have no idea what's going on.

Well, for Project 5 there may just be a surprise for ver 2. I can't really say more though. But, we're getting into it. We do sounds so these tools are vehicles for us to reach new people but the native format support helps the person using that format get the most out of it (especially the downloadable sounds stuff which all the sample-reading companies seem to be very excited about from us for a new level of third party sound support).

Miroslav is sounding beautiful. I made some combis on the spot at the show and it was REALLY fun. It was also scary. I was making classical/soundtrack type stuff up on the spot and sometimes it sounded REALLY cool (and other times it was a musical prison... playing the same stuff over and over...safe- hey when you have a crowd you have to decide how many chances you're going to take!). I really love this plug-in. It is a must-have piece. I know I probably say that about all of our products but... there are a lot of reasons why and you're definitely going to hear all of them from me over time for sure!!!! lol

Well, when I spoke in the forum it was with regard to esoundz as I said. But, if this was in an IK press release saying Jan 20th then that is a different story. I'll have to ask about that and see what the deal is. I am here with IK at Frankfurt so I will bring it up and let you know. Perhaps one or the other was a mistake (if it is conflicting info then it must be). The question is only which is the mistake. But, hey, $99 for the sound part of the upgrade is still a good deal you have to admit. You still get the engine upgrade for free and it is downloadable (so no shipping). But, in principle I understand and also everyone prefers free of course! Let's see. Don't judge too quickly though. You never know.

Post

Hi, Squids,
I can only thank you for doing that. It is quite nice of you. I know it's not expensive and I'll think about buying it... I have to see if I can afford it, though...
Thanks very much again. Have fun in Frankfurt,

Coltell

Hopefully one day the Ampeg, Amplitube 2, and new reverb will make its way into the ST engine. ST3 perhaps?

I hope for your sake and for the sake of those who bought Sampletank based on the original press release that IK honors it. I think they will. I am also glad that I bought at Esoundz, and recommend that to anyone thinking of buying any IK/SR stuff. Squids DOES take care of us.

Thanks, Harmony. I've bought a couple of things from them and they're really good. However, I must admit that this time the offer was too good not to take it. I think I'll buy off them next time. Squids is great. Cheers,

Coltell
