Seems like Synapse Audio the userbase is in a serious decline; used to be alot of Orion threads here, even Computer Music used to print Orion tutorials and articles.
Whats wrong with Orion Platinum? Why have most of you dismissed it in favour of Fruity Loops, Reason and P5? Is because of workflow issues or purely featurewise? Have you tried the demo what did you think.

har har. orion's not bad, but I couldn't bring myself to upgrade to platinum after I paid to upgrade to pro and still didn't get audio recording. So I sold my license.

I have Platinum but I still use Sonar for Audio Recording... (I Import the Orion Tracks.)
It just works so much better for me that way....The Orion Audio recording is not as intuitive or Feature rich as Sonars.
But Orion works Better for me to sequence in.
Everyone will have there own Prefs ,.....thats just mine.
On another note .... I continually have guys tell me to Use EXT .... Well I own EXT ... But for me it is not comfy .... You work where you are comfortable ... You get the most done. I use EXT for other uses though.

I have no use for audio recording but also no use for any hosts other than Orion. It does pretty much everything I need at the moment.
Like Paul said, I don't feel the need to shout it from the rooftops but then I don't need to bitch about it either. Cause it works.

There's things I do that I can't accomplish in Orion, but I still use Orion just as much as I used to; I do 99% of my auomation work using it, which I can't do in Audition.

If I want to restrict myself to a single VSTi (or small chain) I tend to use Chainer or MiniHost - for everything else, there is Orion Platinum.
I haven't dabbled with any real-time audio (yet), but there are always methods that can be employed to avoid obstacles...

Oplat is still the best tool i can find for getting electronic based music made. If you're looking to multi-track a rock band, ORION most likely will not suit you. In contrast, i find it my most invaluable tool for MY electronic music production(s).
I work with samples and loops quite a bit, and especially using orion's sampler slice tool, you can get some great life out of a single loop track in hardly any time at all.
When i want to use my hardware in ORION, I just record midi into audio with the midi out and audio in tracks, and then pop that loop into a sampler for serious manipulation...I find that Orion mixes pretty seamlessly with my hardware set-up, allowing me to work fast and still be creative on-the-fly.
Add to all that the ability to use any VST intrument or FX i need (or even directX!), and i dont see how i could ask for anything more -
I even use ORION as my mastering tool in realtime with a maximizer and the BBE sonic maximizer running on the master fx inserts...
The bottom line? Use whatever software YOU need to get the music MADE!

True ,,,If you are recording the Band playing parts to tracks ...But ... for sequencing Rock Type Stuff using Samples or VSTi Romplers etc ...Orion still is my favorite tool for this too.junebug wrote:Oplat is still the best tool i can find for getting electronic based music made. As you can tell by THAT discussion, Orion is alive and well. And yes, I still wonder if there going to be v6.0.
From using the v5.8 demo, Orion is solid!!!
