Are you using FL in Cubase through Rewire or with a VST?stag wrote:Probably both will work very well .
I use SX3 and i have FL and they work quite well together ,about Reason and Sonar i can´t tell you anything.
Do you stuggle at all with sequencing in two hosts at once?

I own Cubase SX 2.2, Sonar4, Reason 2.5, FL Studio 5.0. They all work fine as rewire slave or host respectively. They are great midi tools too.but have their pros and cons.Dimuthu_DeeJay wrote:Guys what are your reccomendations to rewire devices Reason and FL Studio???

FLS can be used both as rewire slave or host. I mostly use FLS for its flexibility, intutiveness, ease of use to quickly execute my musical ideas without help of external controllers and rewire it later with Cubase. I love FL for its open system approach, that means you can use third party DX, VST, BUZZ, Rewire and may be more types of plugins with ease. But What I hate about FLS is that "Glowing Lup-Lup Button" to switch between rewire clients, which really kills your workflow.
Reason works certainly better as rewire slave in Cubase or Sonar with its cleaner approach, advanced routing and sound quality..But again its closed system app which will not allow use of third party plugins. Reason is CPU efficient comparatively because of this.Reason's built-in synths samplers effects and banks are great.
My choice is Cubase>FLS mostly unless I composed something good inside Reason.

One issue with Sonar is that you are limited to only 16 midi inputs to your rewire client. If you are planning to drive a lot of midi devices in the rewire client from your host of choice then this may be an issue. It's an not insurmountable limitation, but it can be a hassle.
Cubase has no such limitation on the midi inputs to the rewire client. I am a Sonar user and this is one of the things that has me looking over the fence at Cubase from time to time, along with Cubase's friendlier piano roll midi editor.
Sonar does support the 64 audio output channels from the rewire client.

Of course this is the only limitation I've experienced. I'm using sonar and I didn't use more than 16 tracks with reason as a rewire device before. (Because also I work with FL studio ).MojoChopper wrote:One issue with Sonar is that you are limited to only 16 midi inputs to your rewire client. Another issue with both Sonar and Cubase is that channels coming out of Reason are not paired (meaning, in stereo), aside from the first two channels. There are workarounds, but it's unfortunate that neither host allows user-configurable stereo pairing from a Rewire device, unlike Tracktion and (to a slightly lesser extent) Live.

Using SX3 with Reason and FL Studio. A key trick is to never start your song at bar 1. Start at bar 2; this gives the Rewire slaves some time to synchronize. Once I figured this out there's been no struggle at all.Twigg wrote: Do you stuggle at all with sequencing in two hosts at once?
When I was younger I used to be in doubt. These days I'm not so sure.
