Strong vocals ... no doubt. But tell her to cut back on the air ... she's almost the female equivalent to Jamie Walthers in this tune

Thank you for posting that - it was a rare treat.

Your playing is beautiful, as is Leora's singing.

I think she has a very charismatic voice, by which I mean that it's naturally expressive and attractive. She needs to learn to trust this quality and let it do some of the work for her.

At present she's straining (or sounds as if she is) the whole time. This is not necessary. She needs to introduce an element of chiaroscuro into her performance - light and shade. At the moment it's all blazing light and more than a little dazzling at times. I found myself tensing up listening to her.

When she learns to relax and let the beautiful timbre of her voice do most of the work, she'll be a truly excellent vocalist.

Thanks Gordon. Everybody's all concerned about her vocal chords and proper singing. I appreciate (and I'm sure she does too) the concern, but I think her form is pretty decent. I'm curious what makes you all say that. Is it that so much is in the head voice, or the strength of the bridge? Not trying to argue, just curious. Anyway, I'm glad you like the song. Your input is always appreciated!

I know a few profesional singers.. and I know how proper training can get a good voice to an amazing voice. She has a good voice.. if she wants to realise her full potential.. she needs to have training. But it depends.. if she's doesn't want to make a go of it and is happy singing once in a while, it's juat a bit of fun then maybe not... but She has a good enough voice that with some training, could potentially take her somewhere.

You'd be hard pressed to find any professional singer who haven't had training.

Her singing reminds me a little bit of Paula Cole's singing on the song Carmen. That's another song with a very airy vocal performance. You might want to check it out.

Your friend has a very nice voice.

What are all those people thinking of when they buy those Britney albums anyway? Oh yeah, that's the problem--they aren't thinking!

The world needs more of your friend, and less of people like Britney.

The song Carmen is from her album This Fire. My favorite song on that album is Me. In fact, I'm listening to it at this very moment.

That album also contains I Don't Want to Wait, and Where Have All The Cowboys Gone? Both of those got some airplay, as well as Me. The song Carmen is just one of those little songs that will never be a hit, but has a certain undeniable charm to it. Heck, Peter Gabriel even did vocals on one of her tracks, Hush, Hush, Hush. It was one of the tracks that didn't get any airplay in my area. You would think she would have used his appearance for a more radio-friendly song, to leverage his contribution?

All you gits going on about falsetto, you mean vibrato! Falsetto is that going up an octave type of thing (think Thom Yorke, Morrisey) A bit of it would be nice in this actually as it goes.

Girls don't have falsetto. Guys have falsetto, girls have 'head voice'. Didn't any of you guys take choir in high school?

Actually, it's funny that it actually translates the same literally to French, as Ixox first pointed out. Guys sing full voice or falsetto. Girls do chest voice or head voice. As far as I know, the mechanics are the same, but that's just what they call it, from what I understand.

Anyway, I think they mean head voice when they say falsetto, Donks. Are you just wanting some Operatic yodeling, or what? BTW, did you like that little jaath-y turn around in the bridge?

Funny thing, in german we call it "head voice" for guys too.
I thought falsetto was correct unisex AND international music nomenclature.
So, what's the equivalent of "falsetto" for a girls "head voice"? I mean, there must be some...
