Dont get your hopes too high - its just the old Protools LE. 32 mono audio tracks no direct vst support.

Wicked!!!
Too bad that it can't work for my Radium49.
And I wish Digidesign would have done this 2 years earlier before Adobe released Audition v1.5.

Once again, is there any reason to buy Pro Tools if you dont work in an industry studio?

Reasons To Buy Pro-Tools LE/M-Audio:Bunnyboy wrote:Once again, is there any reason to buy Pro Tools if you dont work in an industry studio?
1) To have a piece of the "industry stardard".
2) To help make your resume look good when applying for a job at a real Pro-Tools HD Studio (read: job experience).
3) It's still one of the best audio recording softwares in the world.
Reasons NOT To Buy Pro-Tools LE/M-Audio:
1) You have Adobe Audition/Cool Edit as one of the best audio recording softwares in the world.
2) You believe that Sonar, Cubase, Digital Proformer, and/or Logic is/are great enough to help you in your career without Pro-Tools.
3) You love soft studios (FLS, Orion, Project5, Reason) way better than the traditional recording software like Pro-Tools.
4) Ableton Live and/or Project5 v2.0 is/are a step closer to your "all-in-one" recording software.
5) You believe that Digidesign's days of being "The industry stardard" are over.

As a DUC member also i can tell you one more thing:
between the DUC(Digi User Forum) and here there's two distinct world.
User of PT mainly record bands and i'm pretty sure that here there is more people alone in front of their DAW. They may compose with Loops, VSTi, etc. but don't actually record more that two guys at once.

Funny, everyone I know who uses ProTools is either doing sound-based artwork, or editing sound for video. No bands at all... In post production, as far as I understand, if you dont do PT, you dont do it...
I think this announcement is real interesting though, for a couple of reasons
(a) Digi keep dropping suport for their older hardware (eg 6.7 wont work with the Digi001) so this route might provide people with a less 'transient' hardware base
(b) Digi's (LE-based) hardware jumps from the MBox (USB, 2in-2out, no MIDI, £300) to the Digi002 Rack (Firewire, 4in, 4 out plus ADAT and optical, MIDI, £800). There's nothing in between. The MAudio version gives a much better spread of options.

Does that make my statement like if you record bands you need PT?
No, but there's a fact: i never went to a "digital" studio with infrastructure to record live musicians that has something else than Samplitude-Sequoia,Nuendo or Pro Tools.
