I hope I'm not stepping on people's pinky toes here by opening a sort of official br/fr thread, I just want to help ironing out the issues, as this synth is on my hardrive to stay :D

BUGS

1. The installer had some audio running in the background, and the music, although it was cool, didn't stop after the installation biz was finished. I had to reboot to silence it.

2. Assigning a MIDI controller and tweaking it killed the output; no crash, just no sound anymore until plug restart

3. Click-through. I haven't experienced this anymore with other plugs in Tracktion, but I can click ritgh thru Foorious' GUI, making mess in the arrnagement.

QUESTIONS

- Can't get my head around some of the "prefab" envelopes... I was not able to move all the points in an env, just some - am I missing something?
- Is there any chance to turn off the changing images on fx page? They are cool but distracting and possibly a waste of resources...

FEATURE REQUESTS

- the small white square things could really be a bit larger, aiming to them and changing values is a bit fiddly
- MIDI learn, accessible from all the screens?

W2K SP3, Audiophile 24/96, Radeon 9200 XT, Tracktion 1.6

Post

Thanks pakana. This is a handy thread. Everyone please post any bugs and requests here.

The reported bugs are, other than those mentioned above...

1. The Standalone version is hokey and will not be included in subsequent releases unless somebody really really needs it.

2. There is a hard coded install path causes the presets not to show up unless the synth is installed in c:/program files/foorius

3. First and last value of envelopes other than Amplitude should be freely assignable. Currently they are locked at fully on

4. Some crashes, possibly related to exiting or changing patches with notes held down.

5. Crash when changing ASIO buffer size

6. Crash when changing noise color while playing

7. GUI updates to slow during playback

The feature requests being considered are..

1. Copy and Paste wave-snapshots within the wave sequnce editor
2. Import of audio files into the wave sequence editor
3. Double click to add envelope points
4. Envelope 'snap to horizontal grid' feature when temp sync is enabled

I think this is not foorious specific. I think I had the same issue with other plugins too. Using T1.6 NFR.

And something reasonable some other member suggested:
It 'd be cool if in future releases the nag screen was not so frequent for some initial period.

Double click to add envelope points would be usefull.

about the tracktion click through thing, I am positive it is a tracktion problem. I still have it happening in the T2 demo (happens in 1.6 registered version alot), even with the RMIV which is supposed to be bundled with T2...

I'd like to see a Shift/CTRL+select voices than just the current singular I can achieve when loaded on Orion. Is it different for other users?

Aside from that, AWESOME synth! :hail: :hail: :hail:

I already sent this in an email. I'll post it here in hope you don't receive the same bugreports 200 times.
Host: Energy XT

BR Crash when changing ASIO buffer size

BR Crash when changing noise color while playing

BR Sysex import:
All envelopes are 10x too long compared to FM7. When listening to the presets I have to agree with FM7 There's something about the sustain / release that isn't just right, but that might be related to the above. Try for yourself. FM7 is a good reference for the sysex import (you probably already knew that)

FR Envelopes:
When examining all those envelopes it struck me as annoying that I had to zoom in / out manually every time - it would be nifty if the envelope display automatically resized to fit the envelope

in the mail I already expressed my excitement about this great piece of gear - but I have to do it again. Foorious really is the bees knees. I urge you all to donate. Developing this baby must have taken a lot of time and effort. Remember: you get to decide how much to donate, although less than 5 bucks and it kind'a doesn't matter since paypal need a fair share...

Yes this is definetly the indie synth of the year (for now, hehe) and i will be using it alot from this point forward..although on standalone mode on another computer to save up CPU.

I havent experienced any bugs yet as i haven't fully dedicated time to it, but for now my only FR/BR/? is the GUI being slow when a sequence plays Foorius and you try to edit in real time. so far this happens in eXT. will test in other host as i find time.
once again, the filters are orgasmic!

The envelopes are a little tricky to get used to.
I'd like the GUI to have some more contrast/color also.
Does someone know if for instance a filter set to wovel typ may be modulated as to go from aa to oo with an LFO?

RE: Tracktion click-thru

I know this is courtesy of Tracktion, but click-thru happens far more often with Foorius than with other synths. I can't honestly remember when it happened with other synths.

Thanks, I wasn't being stoopid then :)

I didn't get that far (modulations) yet, but will try!

A 'snap to horizontal grid' feature when temp sync is enabled would be useful.....

The vowel filters should be controlled by the relevant filter modulations (envelopes, lfo etc). The vowel filter control goes a,e,i,o,u from left to right. If you set it on the extreme right, then you should be able to modulate the filter through all 5 vowels using an envelope or lfo.

Envelope right click menu, fill display should show the entire envelope, although it's not automatic.

I find being able to keep the same timescale when changing which envelope you are looking at is usefull for creating sequence type patches.

I don't quite understand this. I'm not familiar with orion. I assume you don't mean loading more than one patch simultaneosly per instance because that wont work.
