Exciter plugs

Ive been hunting for a Exciter plug in VST or DX that sounds similar to the built in Exciter in Logic.
Ive tried the PSP ones, hated them, the BBE is ok on some things, and the best Ive found so far is the 4Front Auxciter.
But the Logic one is still my Favorite, too bad I use Nuendo now.
Any others I should look at.

Don't you hate that - falling in love with a native plugin you can't get standalone?
I've never found a real substitute for Steinberg Magneto (I used to use a cracked version, but have since foresworn all pirate software). I know there are other compressors out there, but something about its sound just did it for me. More developers should follow Image Line's lead and make their native plugins available in other standards.

I fall in and out of love with exciters. I think Elogoxa has a good one, X-Cita.

RGCaudio once had a "high frequency stimulator", but I can't find it on the site...

I generally don't have alot of love for these exciter thingies meself, but Power Technology's DSP-FX Aural Activator is one I have used, in moderation, very occasionally. I suppose I "like" it the best of the lot. It seems somewhat smoother and less grating on the ears if you go right off and get silly with it.
Be aware that these things can really bite you in the arse if you start really pressurizing mix levels later, or you try lifting the top of your mix to add some air. If all of a sudden you start noticing this high frequency "hash" going on, where it wasn't so apparent before, you will know where to look.

To my ears, the enhancer in Ozone is one of the better ones. I liked that (but unfortunately didn't like much of anything else within Ozone, so I never shelled out for it). Personally I prefer BBE. I've got the Rgc one...but it doesn't work for me - probably I just don't like harmonics much as a sole way of exciting things.
Someone mentioned Big Tick......occasionally I've been known to use Big Tick's Nasty Shaper. Sounds weird to use distortion I know, but at low settings, it works nicely as an exciter (not as an enhancer necessarily...I certainly wouldn't use it on a whole mix). It isn't as grating as most digital distortions - more like a cold overdrive at low levels - but can work wonders on drums, and sometimes on other groups, or at least channels. It's a real old plugin, but I've yet to hear a distortion plugin in s/w that I like more than Nastyshaper.
Another one that can work as a sort of exciter is that Ravity multiFX thingy - one of the FX is a real simple stereo widener..seems to work solely by fine delay. It's free, it's impossible not to understand how to use or abuse it, and it'll do a job without wrecking your sound. Again...I'd only use it on a group or channel - not a mix.
And I suppose there's DSPFX - they used to have a harmonic exciter that let you choose and mix odd and/or even harmonics. Useable if you like harmonics.

use it wisely and don't over do it - compare your sound with other professional mixes and try to find a balance on then (just an idea).
