that sounds a hell of a lot like crusherX...

I like it!

More minimalistic than what you usually do, for sure.

That drum loop coming in was a surprise!

Post

surprised me too :o

you know crusherx so this will make more sense to you than anyone i suppose.
as you know its a complicated beast, mainly used in the past for quick mangling then export by me at least.until the other day it hit me!!!!
and i can now just use it :o
this was basically a run trough of a few samples i have and loops n stuff.
but now the idea is to create a live set in orion from the synths,of loops n samples n stuff, organise it into a setlist for opening but keep the vapour and effects as improvisational.
its gonna take some work but i reckon i may almost be ready to hit the road.

add to that the audio input,im thinkin couple of speak n spells guitar, theremair and korg.should be a nice fuckuppabble combo :)

thanks for listenin :)

Are you using CX Live or Studio?

live

A wise choice - more samplers, more oscillators...
I use it on everything. It's true that it takes awhile to get the hang of, but once you do, it's almost effortless.

I don't know what the matter with them was. This had me waltzing and gavotting around my office. Well, not really. Cool, as per.

OT - I'm not sure I get the difference between Live and Studio. I only have studio - does Live "do" the same stuff only stand alone? Or does live actually "generate" tone rather than just act as an effect? I love using studio -still can't control it whatsoever- but if I can stumble upon the right preset and tweak it makes for one of my favorite all-time manglers.

Post

well it opens as a standalone or a vst
basically it has four samplers a live input and four wave oscillators
other than that i think they are ssimilar?altho i have never tried studio so dont actually know the differences hehe
but yeah controlling it at first was as i said a struggle, but once you get used to what each thing does it does become easier.
im no master yet but i can now do things i am happy with so its a definite progression from opening it and crying for my mum

glad you enjoyed the track tho :)

Live has four oscillators that will intermodulate in pretty complex ways, four samplers that stream audio from disc, integrated reverb/stereo pitch shift/delay, plus live input. The main innovation with Studio is the sync-to-tempo and the fact that it's native VST - judging by the screenshot it seems to have only one oscillator and no samplers. Live will run standalone and can be added to a VST effect chain via bridges.

whew...in that case, I was hoping you or D_EK could explain what a VST "bridge" is...is this like hubi's loopback? Thanks

It's like a little dummy plugin that you drop in your chain that routes audio to and from crusherX standalone which runs alongside your host.
