It plays fine, but when I open the editor all I get is an error msg. I've redownloaded and rextracted the update, no difference. It worked fine yseterday, before the update.

I gather nobody else is having this problem?

I think I was using the default skin, maybe with someones patch for larger fonts, if I remember right. Does that ring a bell with anyone? Anyone know if the 203 update should have problems w any skins or that font patch?

If no other ideas appear, I guess I'll uninstall, download the demo again, and reapply my key. Any other thoughts?

I'm having it with the update, i'm grabbing the demo at the moment to install it from scratch.

Just one question, were you guys updating from 2.02, or from an earlier version ?

202 here, for sure, working fine the day before.

I'm pretty certain I had the default skin and the larger font size tweak. I mention that because this seems like some kind of display issue, nothing with the underlying engine.

Post

well, the larger font thing dates back from the Rhino1 days :-)
At this moment I'm uninstalling, installing 2.02 and adding the 2.03 upgrade to see if I can reproduce the problem.

edit: that worked like a charm. No crash. Damn. I wish I could come up with a better answer than, "just reinstall the full thing".

I'm probably wrong about the font patch being in my rhino 2 install. I just saw it with my installers; didn't look in the install directory.

What effect will uninstalling and reinstalling have on songs I have saved with it? I'd assume none, right?

Curious that you can't reproduce the problem. What host and OS are you using, and do you think that'd matter? I'm on an ancient version of Cubase (VST 5.1) and Windows (98SE).

Other folks having the problem, what host and OS are you using?

Post

yes, reinstalling won't affect your old songs. I'm on Win2K and have just tried it with energy-XT and minihost, but I can try with most others as well.

Another data point FYI... Uninstalled, reinstalled the demo from scratch and applied my key, and life is good :).

One question: In my old install's waves directory, there was a file called ADDON1, with the extension FFS if I remember right. I don't see anything like that in the 203 install. Is it something I added? A BigTick addon that's now rolled into the main waves file and is no longer needed?

Post

gee. the addon1 file is older than dust! It dates back from the 1.x versions. Just throw it away, since these waveforms are now included in Rhino 2.

If we can live with the 2.02 "aliased" graphics, is there a reason to install 2.03 at this time? Are these two patch compatible?

Post

They're compatible. The other reason would be the tx81 import, and the fact that it will now save your work whenever you use "write".
Also, there's also a undocumented hack to disable unaliased graphics on v2.03, if you ever want to do that.
