I've been considering getting into PT via the M-box - is it really that bad? Or is it the usual case of some folks having problems with?

The Pre's are decent(Focusrite)but there no midi i/o and it uses USB so the latencey is pretty bad and people on both platforms report crappy performance and dropouts. What would you rather use? USB,or FW or PCI.I think it's a no brainer.BC wrote:I've been considering getting into PT via the M-box - is it really that bad? Or is it the usual case of some folks having problems with?

I hope so. There are a lot of Radium49/61 owners that will buy PT if the market includes them.Alan wrote:According to someone at M-Audio they'll get around to supporting all M-Audio products eventually.tkmattson wrote:Why isn't the M-Audio Firewire Solo supported?

You can already sidechain in Cubase and Nuendo, you just have to know how

Some people already have the Delta 1010 and LT to work but it's not "officially supported",the same might go for the FW Audiophile since they have drivers for the FW410.If your really interested download the drivers and demo and give it a shot.sirocco wrote:i have radium 61 and a firewire audiophile. give me my f**king support!

I just tried the demo with my M-audio Audiophile 24/96, it says it cant see the hardware
Im not going to mess up my Nuendo DAW and drivers to get a demo working. Nice to see Digidesign is serious about putting people off

Like I said - I wont mess up my working system as its stable and probably wont be after some hacked drivers are on there! I dont want Nuendo freaking out when it sees Digidesign/Maudio butchered drivers, they may work fine now but how about when you take off the demo? or in a month?

Beat detective is pretty crappy anyways. And in exactly what way is Pro Tools good for working with audio?[ Lex ] wrote:samplitude has no true sidechaing nor beatdetective... so in my point of view it sucks.
But samplitude is very good also, specially the object concept and high quality fx, but still, cutting up and editing audio isnt really a joy.
In the end it all depends on _what_ and _how_ the host is used that determine the judgement of better/worse.

Sorry, Im "bouncing wall" drunk atmbewing77 wrote: Beat detective is pretty crappy anyways. And in exactly what way is Pro Tools good for working with audio?
I think BeatDetective is great, get/record a long drum performance (not a 4 bar) and do a tempo map of it, then record midi/audio and quantize... brings tight feeling to a new dimension during the whole song.
The second part is the ability to split audio (like recycle) and then smooth the gaps after moving/quantize them. just great
otherwise its just that I know the shortcuts and work very fast in PT both with audio and midi...
and it sounds great (ahhh.... no its not the pan law) its the grey background that make it so smooth
why not try the demo, I do alot more complete songs in PT then in any other major hosts (done them all for the last 15 years now)
[note to oneself] edit this post in the morning to avoid any remorse
