Let's say that my VST directory of choice is C:/ProgramFiles/vstplugins...
For some unexplained reason, almost all vst installation operations now default to c:/programfiles/vstplugins/disco_dsp.
It's annoying but not cataclysmic. Also, inexplicable. Any suggestions as to how to get rid of the disco_dsp default? Thanks!

Not sure I follow. Are you saying that when you run the VST Adapter, it defaults to pointing to the disco_dsp folder instead of the parent folder?
Or are you saying that you when install other vsts, they're being installed in that folder?

torhan - sorry...the latter; somehow when I install, they want to default to the discodsp folder within the plugins folder
womona - I can try that but given that it shows up -outside of the VST operation as the plugin default, I'm not quite sure how to remove it from being the default directory (nor am I sure how it became the default directory).
But thanks, both of ya!

There's a registry key that has that... there was a plugin that I installed wrong and it set the plugin directory the wrong place...mayan wrote:torhan - sorry...the latter; somehow when I install, they want to default to the discodsp folder within the plugins folder
If you're confident (or have a friend that is), start regedit and look for discodsp and if it looks like the plug-in directory, change it.
(I'm not giving detailed directions because I don't want you getting mad if you're not sure what you're doing and trash your machine!)

In your registry under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE,
there should be an entry called "VST" with the default path for your vst folder stored in the key "VSTPluginsPath". Many installers use this as the default location for installing vst dlls. It looks like your path has been set, somehow, to "c:/programfiles/vstplugins/disco_dsp". Use regedit and change it to whatever directory you want.
Edit: Well, Doug beat me to it; but, the details are as above, in any case.

thanks so much y'all...I've run regedit and gone to the "SOFTWARE" branch. And this is indeed the problem, doug and Mr. S's Parrot. Cool! Never been in the registry before!! Hahahahahaha...I feel power surging through my veins!! I feel like I've never really lived before!!!! Now I can really muck things up!!!! Get ready for a lot of "er...I just did this...how do I undo it" posts.
Thanks again!
