I like loose better in context with the rest of the drumkit, but I think tight, or something in between, might fit the track better.

usually i find they start tight and end up loose if you work hard enough

Cheers for the comments people...

going to have one last play with it today (sort out the velocities of the bass drum and tighten the loose snare a touch!).. and then mix down the drums for vurt to play with
