Ok.
And in exactly what way is Pro Tools good for working with audio?
No Idea, neither does anybody else.I'm sorry I brought this whole thing up,and I promise I'll never do it again.

I am a complete newbie to ProTools and ProTools LE. What would be the latency when using ProTools LE on an Audiophile 192 with a 2.6 AMD with 512 MB RAM? Would it be low enough to use Sansamp PSA-1 RTAS in real time on live guitar input?

I have installed the Pro tools M-Powered demo on a PC and it works great. Download the M-Powered drivers from the Digidesign website first. I haven't had any problems with the new drivers taking over and I am able to switch from each program with out a problem. The demo works great and is intuitive. I have never used Pro Tools and I figured out a lot initially.
I will buy this just to have it the program and be able to convert to a Pro Tools format. I will purchase the fxpansion VST to RTAS wrapper, but that isn't a problem.

I am new to this forum, but it seems a lot of people complain about a product, demo etc and do not follow the installation instructions or do research to find out the compatibility of a product with the the software/hardware they own. Reading the installation instructions and thoroughly researching a product before installation have saved me a lot of time. I have never had any compatibilty issues with my set up because of careful research calling the manufacture etc. It has saved me the hassle of dealing with issues, which means more time spent on music.

M-Audio 2496
AMD Athlon 64 3200+
XP Professional
Cubase SX3
Tascam Gigastudio 3 Orchestra
Propellerhead Reason 3
Waves Renaisance Maxx
512 Dual Ram
100 GB SATA HD for applications
300 GB SATA HD for audio
200 GB SATA HD for samples
Various software and hardware peripherals

It's all about the music not the platform. It's about how to get to where you are going and not how you got there!

for people wondering why they should spend 300 dollars on pro tools, i should add that if you want to bring your mixes into bigger facilities and maintain all your automation and such - you should be using pro tools. also, if you are looking for jobs in big studios - you should learn how to use pro tools.
i dont like sequencing in pro tools but there are a lot of audio editing tasks that i use it for, and many of those tasks take a very short amount of time with this DAW in particular. it excels at film sound editing too. i just feel like they should update their entire Digirack plugin set, i know there is the new EQ but i want to see a new delay and such.
I am using an Mbox, it was purchased recently. I have not been entirely thrilled with the latency performance on it so i usually flip over to my audiophile 2496. so you can understand now why i'd be kicking myself over this announcement. i might wait until i find out that this is a really stable version and sell my mbox. but the mbox is great cause it's portable and it has focusrite preamps which are great for music recording. it's also cute

Works with Delta 44/66, too... if anyone is wondering. 'Could probably sell my LE system now.
