What is Your Favorite Sample Slicer ...and why

Wavesurgeon is my favourite...
http://www.squarecircle.com/
Because it's cheap, simple to use, intergrates well with my hardware sampler and software, versatile (ie. lots of nice features), and finally it's a lot of fun to play with.
I'm surprised it doesn't get more notice around here.

I had a much longer post put together here a few days ago. But after previewing it, I closed the window instead of submitting. Ooops.
Integrated Solution and my favorite - Orion Platinum Grooveslicer
Stand Alone for those still on Win98 - Xincarn is cool
I am curious about the Dicer and MicroDicer plugins and am a fan of stand alones like Wavesurgeon, Beat Creator, and Recycle...but, can't justify using or purchasing more slicers when my host handles the job so well.
I tend to work solely within my host (OP) with an occasional visit to my audio editor (SF).

I was an avid Sound Forge user for years. It was the best hands down. But then came along Adobe Audition with it's multi-tracking and VST/DX effects plugin hosting.
My favorite thing about Audition is it is so intuitive. It's like it anticipates your editing. Plus, I love the sleek graphics.

So, anyone tried Reflex? It seems pretty nice...

I'm really surprised Adobe didn't try to f**k with the interface when they bought it. It stopped me from upgrading for $99 when I had the chance.ZZ wrote:My favorite thing about Audition is it is so intuitive. It's like it anticipates your editing. Plus, I love the sleek graphics.

Very good point.TeeLangSun wrote:I have to question any piece of software which forces you to do your editing in a tiny window when you probably have a 19 or 20" monitor, all of which can be used. That's what Vsampler allows you to do. You can edit a waveform, auto slice, manually slice and edit the slice markers in a window the full size of your screen.
I have so many beat-slicers: BeatCreator which I don't use, PhatmatikPro which I don't use, Orion's which I don't use.
I also have the built in slicer with Muzys, EnergyXT's slicer and VSampler 3.5.
For me a slicer is a really difficult sell these days.
But I just thought I'd second the idea of the scalable sample editor window in VSampler3+. It's brilliant. Software samplers can really give me the shits with there small, pokey sample windows (including EnergyXT's sampler).

Well I was referring to software samplers actually.stale bread wrote: i agree but beatcreators is scalable
I don't think I'd call BeatCreator a software sampler, more a specialised audio editor.

I thought Phatmatik Pro was the only decent slicer in the world but when i bought Fl studio and learned to use its own slicer I changed my mind. The easiness of phatmatiks pitch changing was revolutionary but I noticed that Fruity Slicer can do the same and it has many other greater things that Phatmatik dont have, for example stretching and pitch shifting.Barf wrote:Fruity Slicer. I tried Pahtmatik and Recycle some time ago but I'm still amazed by Fruity Slicer's ease and range of use. I miss it very much when I work with other hosts.
..Btw I think this is my 1st post.
