Is there actually a correct forum for this?
None of them looked suitable, so here it is.

I've recently downloaded the ogg conversion tool.
It's a simple drag and drop interface but when I put my wavs in it, it just crashes.

oggdropXPd.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

Ogg's new to me so I may have it set up wrong. I just installed it, nothing more.
Also, what are all the tools in the tools folder?
oggdec
oggenc
ogginfo (I think I might be able to guess what this one is

)
vcut
vorbiscomment

How do I use them, where should they be? How do I access them from the drag and drop screen (I know if you right click on the fish, you get a menu, but no hints or clues as to what the tools are or what they do).
Sorry to be dumb, I just can't suss it.
Mainly I can't suss why it crashes everytime. Just how do you use this thing?

Try to drop this file http://www.rarewares.org/files/libmmd8.1.zip

in the directory OggdropXP is installed or your /system 32 dir.

It's a librairy for programs built with the ICL compiler

Downloaded that and went to drop it into the folder.

Here's my first problem then I guess...
It didn't install as far as I can see.
Went through the motions but no Ogg folder in programme files.

OK, so I went back to Ogg's site.
It's a bit hard to understand exactly what it is I need.

If I'm on Windows, not Mac, is it possible to even use Vorbis to encode? (The XPdrag and drop thing kind of indicates that it should be

)
Maybe I'm flogging a dead horse here. It sure seems a load of hassle.
What, if anything, do I need to do to get this thing installed on my pc? It looks to me like loads of bits and bobs that you build yourself, which isn't what I'm after.
Maybe I should just stick to mp3's and DBPowerAmp?

you don't need to install anything, just unzip to a directory of your choice and click on the exe when you're done. Read the readme file or better, get the manual here:http://www.rarewares.org/files/ogg/oggd ... ide1.6.zip

Yup, that works. Thanks for that.

(Was having a bit of trouble as the 'exe' appeared to be a png file and just kept opening Fireworks. I couldn't work out what was going on, then I noticed all links were to the manual. Came here a few minutes later and you'd fixed the links.

Got there in the end though - cheers.
