Podium vs Tracktion

It's quite obvious that Tracktion is quite an amazing host, although I have never really been able to get into it personally. I did get into Podium a bit thought and I think it's pretty cool. I'm sure they'll both get only better with such attentive developers.

Can you give me a couple of examples what you use this with, and I can't even find curves........I have 1.29

I suspect that those who have praised Tracktion's customer support are basing their positive views on memories of a bygone time. In the 18 months or so that I have been a registered Tracktion owner I have spotted Jules, the developer, less than half a dozen times on the forum. And then he passed through with a quip rather than engaging in meaningful dialog about Tracktion's future.
The bottom line here is that there are bugs and issues in T2 that were reported as long as two years ago, but which remain unfixed. Even Steinberg, so notorrious for their poor customer support, at least release bug fixes with some expedience.
The emphasis with this update appears to have been on adding sufficient features to justify Mackie's price rise from $80 to $199, no less. Yet even there, several regularly requested features have been ignored. The long and drawn out approach of Tracktion 2, accompanied by a bizarre mixture of teasing and silence, has also been an irritating test of users' patience.
On the other hand, there are a group of regulars on the Tracktion forum who are excellent people, committed to Tracktion's future. Those with programming knowledge themselves have devoted a lot of time to developing tools, fixes and solutions to some of the program's most glaring and annoying faults. Their efforts make up at least in part for the very bad customer support.
If Podium's developer is indeed "all over" the user forum then enjoy it, and long may it last!

I have used the demo sparingly but I prefer the flexibility and detail of the curves, spline curves would also would provide a smoother transition of parameters or sound in a mix for me anyway.eyeknow666 wrote: No, I think you are right but maybe I was wrong and didn't know how to use this.

A few brief comments:
- Personal developer presence does not equal customer support. Since T has a large enough base now, WE are the instant customer support.
People recently have been amazed that their questions were answered, in detail, within seconds of it being posted. How's THAT for customer service?
Now, I'm not dismissing "traditional" customer service. Let's face it, the customer is entitled to professional support by the company that makes the product. But just because Jules isn't in the forum all the time doesn't mean that customer support e-mails and phone calls aren't being answered by Mackie/RMS.
-eyeknow666: we've had this debate before, but you just don't believe us. There is no "dull" sound to Tracktion. You are imagining things. It is a placebo. Your volume levels are different. I don't know wtf it is, but there's no 'dullness' to it at all. What you put in is what you get out. Full stop. To believe anything else is ridiculous.
Instead of turning this thread into a 'dullness' thread, though, simply bump one of the several hundred existing threads in which people have supplied plenty of proof that no host has a particular edge in sound quality, and you can continue it there.
I did, however, feel it needed to be addressed as there are people weighing the difference between the two, and I thought it was irresponsible to leave that one be.

I agree with Greg about sound quality. Tracktion has that nailed so far as I am concerned and that was definitely one of the initial draws of the program when I bought it. Audio recording is also incredibly easy in Tracktion.

id just like to add that in the few times i have needed to contact jules directly recently (and more to the point these were over pretty trivial issues) he has responded within minutes ... hours at most ...
... hes still around and watching ... his role has changed slightly is all ...
... since when has developer automatically = customer support ??? ... as ive said elsewhere tonight already were playing a different tracktion game these days ...

Here is my take on the sound of Tracktion compared to other packages...when starting a new project the volume level on the master out will default to -3db.
I too thought there was a possible dull or subtle difference to the sound but nudge that slider up to 0 and then compare with any other...no difference.
