Proof? Still pointless justification.munchkin wrote:Well this doesn't seem to bother the record companies who steal from musicians and consumers all the time.Teksonik wrote:Stealing is stealing. No amount of justification makes it right.

People trying to justify theft of intellectual property on a site dedicated to intellectual property. I've seen this same thread a hundred times here and it will never cease to amaze me.

OK, how about: I NOW HAVE BOUGHT ALL 4 FANTOMAS ALBUMS, BUT IF SOMEONE HADN'T BURNED ME A C.D. OF THEM I WOULD NOT HAVE BOUGHT ANY OF THEM.
THEY EARNED THE MONEY I SPENT ON THOSE C.D.S BECAUSE OF THAT FIRST BURNED C.D.
There, is that pointed enough for you???

If I steal your wallet, gamble with it, hit the jackpot and give you 10X the money I stole, does that make it okay? Course the odds are you'll never see a dime of it back.

it never ceases to amaze me how people can point their fingers at theft inside the worst possible gangster police state boundaries but no outside..Teksonik wrote:People trying to justify theft of intellectual property on a site dedicated to intellectual property. how dare you steal my song, but please build my custom home right there and yes, just pave straight over the rabbits and ground squirrels, pave them in so i wo't have to hear them scream, or the mexicans you hired to do it when they go home blind cos you wouldn't let them wear any eye protection.
thank you for your great insight into wrongdoing, teksonik.

Right before the RIAA went into attack mode about the original Napster, U.S. recording industry profits were at a record high.
Granted I'm sure a large part of the decline is the economy's nosedive into the toilet, but they were being ham-handed and thick-skulled about a technology they should have embraced.
I don't really support piracy, but the major labels are just a better armed crew of pirates.

If not even your mother knows who you are, you'd kill to have you music copied over and over and get as much exposure as possible.
Once you get some recognition, suddenly all those who copy your music turn into spoiled greedy bastards with all sorts of qualities that make them lower than the lowest form of life.
Human nature...
PS. Just a generalized observation.

So you are saying that it would be better for Fantomas if I had never gotten that burnt c.d. and had never bought any of their albums??toine6 wrote:If I steal your wallet, gamble with it, hit the jackpot and give you 10X the money I stole, does that make it okay? And this is so because of the "odds"?
And how do you know the odds???

copyright infringement is not theft. this is the most annoying thing in this whole argument, people and organisations going on about "stealing" and theft. pillocks.Teksonik wrote:Stealing is stealing. No amount of justification makes it right.

Is there a way to copyright music and not have the RIAA to have anything to do with it?
For instance say I was famous, is there a special copyright that would allow people to trade my song on p2p programs and still protect my song from being sampled or have melodies stolen from it?
