Part colours in SX2.2....where?

This is just a minor thing that irritated me a while ago....colouring parts in the arranger. I'm on SX2.2.033 at present (haven't installed the latest SX2 yet).

I've hunted everywhere in the manual, and can't find reference to part colours anywhere...used "colour, part coulour, colour schemes...etc" in the help search - nada. I had a good read too (thrilling that was  ) and couldn't find it in the arranging chapters...or anywhere else.

But on the Cubase forum a wee while ago, I noticed someone said you can colour parts from the toolbox. I sussed out to do it from the drop down menu at the top right...but I also noticed in the manual there was a screenshot of "colour" as an option in the transport box too. Well it's not there in my version :? I've double checked several times, and I can modify the transport loads of ways, but colour is not in there.

So...I can colour parts from the arrange page, but it's a minor hassle, as I have to muck around scrolling way across to the right and expanding the screen view. So put me out of my misery....which page in the manual is there anything about colouring parts?
Either I can't see the wood for the trees, or I'm starting to suspect my manual has missed out some sections.

I remember setting "old Cubase behaviour" somewhere when I originally set the whole thing up (I prefer the old shortcuts etc...just used to them for so many years). Does that blank out functions such as colouring from different avenues like the toolbox maybe? It's not a big thing, but slows me down when I'm sure I can do it faster :?

right click on the tool bar at the top

edit: oops, seems like you know that...no color on transport here either...

I don't have SX-2 installed atm but try searching for "color" instead of "colour" in the operations manual.
If you have to ask, you can't afford the answer

You can customise whats on the toolbar by right clicking, in your case you might have to either remove some objects so there's enough room to see the part colors, or increase your screen resolution to see more objects, as the part colors are at the right hand edge of the toolbar...

Make up a blank template using however many audio & MIDI tracks etc, that you would use in a regular project, ie;

I use maybe 12 audio & 4 MIDI etc...

Highlight each track in the inspector one by one, then choose from the dropdown toolbox, the colours you wish for each, ie; vox red, guitars blue, bass yellow or whatever...

Also a good time to save window sets etc...

Then save this as your default project or as a template!
From then on each time you start a new project you'll have the same setup, colour coded according to intrument etc...!

This has definitely sped up my sessions, especially 'coz I know at a glance what tracks are which without having to read scribble strips!

The choices of colors for parts in your project should be in the upper right corner of the arrange page. You should be able to simply select and highlight a part then select a color and voila, your part is now colored.

Now if you can't see the choices of colors, try maximizing and minimizing your project pages until you can see them when you slide the horizontal scroll bar at the bottom of the page.

As it's been suggested, you could also use the drop-down toolbox and choose the colors for your parts that way.

'Hope this helps you sort it out.

Now that is a stroke of genius. So bloody obvious, but it would have taken me ages to figure that one...one tends to forget that the foremost Western nation can't actually spell properly. (Although the Germans are usually pretty efficient, so you'd think they's get it right :hihi: ). Yep...I'll try that, thanks SJ.

Right-click toolbox - OK, got that...I'll give it a whirl. Must admit there a quite a few bits of the arrange page that I've never really played with...didn't realise quite how customisable SX is.
Now I'll never get any music done, I'll be so busy rearranging and ordering things (great way of avoiding doing the real work).

One day I promise myself I'll actually sit and read through the whole manual. Normally I nod off and fall off my chair just after one chapter though :hihi: .

Took you guys two thousand years to invent the English language and it only took us 100 to perfect it :hihi:

Sorry I wasn't more help on that, I couldn't remember how much of that was available in SX-2. You would think I could remember since it hasn't even been 3 months since the last time I used 2. But I guess I only have enough brain cells left for 30% of the current version.
