Yes, it is. But, the crossgrade for ST2 owners is $349. and not $100. I don't know where you got THAT from. As it is the crossgrade is an incredible deal at $349. and it isn't going to be offered forever either. It's at least there for the launch and some stores will be taking pre-orders soon! (an indication that we're getting close!!!!)

The over 1,000 sounds is refering to parent, child and combi presets. The final count we won't know until we're done. The list on line is just a partial list. There's even more than that. But, to have something to digest for now... Some of the specific names may change in the end as well.

What I meant was, all stores are offering normal Philharmonik for $100.00 LESS than MSRP. Will they be offering $100.00 less than MSRP for the crossgrade? Because otherwise the cross-grade is only an advantage of $50.00 or so - I'm not so sure that's even worth it, since you'll be able to find stores offering it for less than that on froogle shortly after release http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/MiroslavPhil/ and http://www.audiomidi.com/common/cfm/pro ... 9&cpid=392 are what I'm referring to about the prices, by the way.

And if the cross-grade offer is going to be around for a very short time anyway, I don't see why alot of people will be rushing to get in on the deal rather than waiting and spending much less at their own pace. I'm sure there will be people who can't wait but I personally am one who will be forced to wait (I just bought Sibelius [needed it to write a portfolio for college applications, rather than just wanted it desperately, like I do with Philharmonik] so I will have trouble convincing certain people to let me get Philharmonik that soon afterwards).

Anyway, boring price issues aside, I've been listening to the demo over and over, and it still sounds better than any orchestral library I've ever heard - and looks easier to use. Thanks for the info on the presets - that's what I expected . One thing I don't understand is the combi preset concept - is that an actual whole plug-in preset that loads different instruments into different slots with the same MIDI channel, or are they just combined samples?

It's like a whole plugin preset (similar to SampleTank2) that loads different instruments into different slots, and also includes any custom editing, effects, routing, MIDI assignments, etc. A common way its used is to load up the plugin with several instruments, and set them all to the same midi channel. That way you get a massive stack which is really inspiring to play (see the Philharmonik Video, Squids is playing a combi).

Another way to use combis is to set up a working template with all your usual instruments configured, and be able to load your template in one go. This is really cool - you could set up two similar templates in Philharmonik, one with a big sound (bigger/stacked ensembles, more reverb, etc), and one with a smaller sound (load smaller ensembles, smaller reverb, etc) - and then be able to switch between them while you're working! This is cool stuff.

I'm pissed off that there are all these affordable orchestral libraries and I don't have any money. SampleTank 2 does a decent orchestral job considering it's a gereral ROMpler, but I want an actual orchestral library.

Thanks. I am glad you guys liked the demo. It's a fun one to demo actually. There are so many patches like that where you make an instant orchestra sound. It's very inspiring and a lot of fun!

pretty impressive chops there Squids - the one thing that really comes through is the "lushness". Granted, you can make EWQLSO Gold lush, but Philharmonik has more of a fragility timbre to it compared to EWQLSO more solid approach - damn it Squids, I was well on the way to convincing myself i didn't need this. I even watched the Studiophonik vid from Winter NAMM and that got me going too - especially the different mic setups. Maybe some A/B comparisions with the real gear would be a good incentive to convince people.

Awesome video demo Dave. Sonic Reality did it again. Congratulations. I am sure this new plugin will be very succesful. Hearing a skilled keyboardist like yourself play it makes all the difference in the world. Very impressive.

Wow. Thanks. I had no idea anyone would be impressed. I felt like I was hacking psuedo classical soundtrack stuff and barely getting away with it! But, you'd be surprised at how easy it is to play. Very natural and inspiring. The sounds make you come up with stuff and you know THAT is probably the MOST valuable aspect of it. If it helps you write music then how valuable is that????

Not exactly. But, there may be something interesting coming. Unfortunately I can't talk about it until it is announced though. Let's just say that there are more Miroslav archives than even the 7 gigs being released with Philharmonik.

I fear a "time to sell grandmother/mortgage" decision coming on... It was great to see how far SR have come, with all this great software and deals with Ampeg, IK etc. SR seems a really cool company too, i just feel like a number where I'm currently at, so it's nice to see people who love their work.

Just out of interest, as telebunke raised the question of modules - is the ability of upgrading the ST2 engine to support Amplitube 2/Ampeg modelling being considered? Obviously this would be a charged upgrade, but as the 2.1 upgrade proves that the engine is open ended for technical upgrades I thought it was worth a shot.

Also, how will Studiophonik operate within ST2, if it doesn't currently support features such as multiple mic placements, tine adjustment etc - or is this done through layering?!

With all this great software, you ever considered a Sonik Komplete Care Package?! I know I'd sure consider it!

All good ideas.

Studiophonik will work with ST2 because it uses the ST2 engine but brings out capabilities of it that are not used that way in regular ST2 sounds. It requires more work on the programming side and it is tricky which is why it is taking us a lot longer. But, in the end it will be easy to use and REALLY powerful. It might take up a bit more CPU than usual though but it will be for a cause (realism and mic mixing).

I'm guessing the samples from Miroslav's libraries that are not coming with Philharmonik are non-orchestral (because then they would come WITH Philharmonik, or else it wouldn't be fair...). Not necessarily. There's more choir and orchestral material that isn't making its way onto Philharmonik. But, if you want to talk about fair then including the full orchestral AND choir library that still sells for thousands and yet STILL adding additional archives to Philharmonik as well is more than fair. Anyone who paid up to $4K for the original library is looking at this as a mega-deal. Anyone who couldn't afford the original library may also be thinking the same.

But, we bought Miroslav out. That includes all kinds of interesting archives both orchestral and other. Some of it will take time to work on more before it is ready to play and some of it will need to come out in different appropriate products in order to bring back a return on the investment which you can imagine was substantial (we're talking Miroslav here). But, we'll make it appealing don't worry. That's our job. You want a good 7 gigs of Miroslav in a module? Buy Philharmonik. You want even more Miroslav or SR material? Down the road there'll be the opportunity to get more! We want to stay in business to keep making these products as well. So, it is nice to know that your support buying our products gets put back into more products that may appeal to you as well. That keeps us going! Buy what you like and keep them around to do more. That's pretty much how it works really.
