okay the breakbeat kick (in fact the whole break is thru Blockfish), I'm not sure if the first one is treated at all, I'll have a look and get back to you on that. The whole track is mastered via Ozone with a bit of compression there too.3*s wrote:Both?

Yeah, i like this. For me, its bordering on old psytrance (if you kept it 4/4) I'd like to hear a harsh saw lead on this, its the only thing thats missing.
good work

Great work as usual cypher
Definately gonna try some mixing with this one, i'm building up my breaks MP3 collection slowly and just got hold of Traktor Studio v1 from ebay for £7 so this is going to get a workout mate
And i second whoever said it's like old eat static, think it was vurt. Very eat static for sure

cheers quincy. My stuff seems to get compared to Eat Static and Juno Reactor quite a bit, yet I've never knowingly heard any of their stuff so I best check it out. The other comparison is The Crystal Method, who I know and love.
Anyway, glad you enjoyed it.

I love this ... great stuff cypher. I'm a big fan of this kinda breakbeat style of dance music and you do it so well... simply amazing!
would you be interested, sometime, in doing a collab. Where I provide some orchestral bits and pieces and you do this kinda stuff on?

wow thanks Ben. Always interested in a collab. Past experience has taught me that I tend to perform best with rhythm, fx and production (i.e. leaving the actual music to someone else
).
My personal fave in that respect was Synthetik Symphonik where Donks provided the string arrangement.
So yeah, definitely up for it. PM me at some stage and we talk through our approach etc.
[edit] and orchestral sounds ideal
Thanks

yeah Synthetic Symphonik was a great song...
will be a few weeks as I have a backlog of things to do... but I'll keep it in the back of mind and see if i can come up with some kinda string arrangement... I'll PM you when I do..

Very EBM:ish (good EBM:ish) until the breakbeat kicks in. Awesome intro. This is a really cool track, I like both EBM and electro a lot, so this was right up my alley
Just add some whisper-singing vocals (think Overlords - Sundown, if you've heard that one) and it's supposed to be signed and released...
Great production. Your track that is.

nice one cypher
I do think the drums lack some power and they sound too 'live' in my opinion, but if that's want you wanted I can't really comment on that
but a good build-up again and good composition
volume is a bit low btw

thankyou stefan and spaceman
Re the drums, the breakbeat was actually from another track that didn't make the cut, so I was kinda stuck with them as is, but I'm pretty happy with them.
Re the volume, yeah I know what you mean - I'm gonna have to have a look at my set up in Ozone, I'm not managing to get additional volume without clipping (compression yes I know)...
thanks for listening guys.

well I use blockfish on my drums generally. The breakbeat in this track was me going overboard with it after hearing some awesome compressed drums on an album recently and trying to achieve the same thing.
I don't use much else partly because of the way I work (long dull story...)
