I went to Sounds Expo yesterday. It's definitely getting bigger with more exhibitors etc.. Went a few years back and it was pretty weak. There was some good seminars - went to one that was an idiots guide to synth programming. Was actually really useful - done by a guy from Novation. I then waited for the next seminar, which was an SOS Q&A, and then...there was a power cut!! Was funny seeing Paul White try to keep things moving without the PA! It took about an hour or so for the power to come back on. In the meantime I wondered around and ended up catching Roger Linn jamming with another guy using his Adrenalinn fx box - they were running some amps of batteries I think! Then power came back on, and everything came to life again! Saw soom cool demos - including the new MIDI guitar pickup system from Terratec - pretty impressive. All in all, a good day out.

The power cut was quite amusing... although as I remember it took about 2.5 hours to come back on.
FXpansion is doing a seminar on synthesis tomorrow (Saturday) - this may include a sneak preview of the synth we're working on..

I went ye3sterday, it was fantastic! Met some really top people, like Angus from FXPansion and Gary Kerzner (If Dave is the squid, is he the Octopus? Not sure), and spent wayyyy too much money!
Actually I've got some serious problems now - having bought BFD+XFL and Sonik Synth 2 and had my Kontakt 2 upgrade through the post during the week my Hard Drive's requirements have grown by 60Gig almost overnight...!
But probably one of the most interesting things there was the Receptor - I never thought I'd say this, but I've now seen a use for Linux outside of systems written by and for bearded conspiracy theorists. Plus I reckon this is something I could give to my keyboard player and just let her get on with it without her having to think too hard about what's inside.
And the TC-Helicon Voicelive is awesome - a solo singer singing a Toto song and sounding like they're all there with him - stunning. The first piece of hardware I've wanted for ages!
Awesome. And fantastic discounts. Well worth it...
