Doubtful; nothing else aside from attempting to use these convo reverbs causes me any problems at all and I'm completely happy with the card. I'm not likely to switch cards purely just so I can use convolution. :)

The PS demo I tried before came fairly close...I'll try out the PS Light demo tonight, see how it is now on the speedier system.

Sahul, do you think my having a much faster CPU now might help my situation? Was using an AMD XP2000+ w/512MB RAM before when trying it out, now using an AMD64 3500+ w/a gig of RAM.

Yes, definitely, convolution plugins make a heavy use of CPU, so your new PC seems to be much more suited for using them. At least with PSpace you should be able to lower the latency to unnoticeable levels when playing realtime.
PSpace Light Demo is working really great here at 64 samples (SX 3.02 | Athlon XP 3200+ | 1GB RAM), and your PC has even more power than this.

Another thing you should consider is the sample rates of impulses. Some of the free impulses are 96kHz. SIR does not deal with this well at all. There are many artifacts when it converts to my host rate of 44.1kHz. Voxengo does this perfect on the fly. I don't know aboout ConvoBoy.

I personally think Voxengo sounds better (clearer, cleaner, more accurate) than SIR. I have used SIR for a long time, and now I am in on the Pristine Space group buy.

If you can't trust your judgement to make a subjective decision with regards to a subjective issue, than you should just quit now.

I have Sound Forge, which has a convo reverb in it.
I ended up purchasing Room Verb M2 by Spin Audio.
I thought it was the best reverb of the ones I tried--Ambience, Glace, WaveArts, Pristine, couple other.
My beef about it is the CPU hit--around 10-15%.
What makes a convolution reverb different, and what is desirable about that?

just wondered how your getting on with 64 bit chip????im thinking of upgrading to your spec aswell.

For me, it's the quality you can get with it when using the right impulses. I haven't found a software reverb yet which could be compared to that.

You might want to check this thread in the Project-5 forum:

There's some tests on ConvoBoy vs Pristine Space Lite.

Now, now, no reason to be an a-hole just because I do not know much about reverbs.

fac, that thread contains a FANTASTIC explanation of the fundamentals of True Stereo convolution, congratulations! Can't think of a clearer way to explain it.

Thinking about it, the CPU hit might be more important to me than the latency.

Thanks, Sahul. I wasn't sure I had grasped it myself. ;)

seriously, why don't you demo them all and decide which one YOU like the best.
This website won't load for me. Have I missed something?
