Go check the synthedit postings and look at the second down call ed G-Amp and G-Amp light and see if that fits your description.

thanks meeks but if i'm not mistaken those post you referred to are for introducing harmonics, i mean actualy turning 1 part into som harmonies.

i'm ~sure that there isn't anything out there that you're looking for..
i remember some news item in the last year where someone released a auto accompaniment for monophonic signal thingy that spat midi file (no clue name, prolly standalone not vst)
but a harmoniser, no...
there are eg. resonators that will double your signal with something that you set the pitch of..
..or you could generate an algorithmic sequence in the same key and run your track thru mda talkbox.. if you use a sawtooth w/ no filter (perhaps add some hpfed white noise too depending on content.. might preserve some of the highs) you *might* get a retuned track of quality enuff for backup mebbe w/ fx or something.. (i could wrap that in a plug to make it easy too :p)

how fancy do you want the sequences to get.. eg. is humanised timing necessary? at least an lfo to assign to glide time.. any kind of pitch detection based pitch is beyond me atm.

I'm not sure you'll experience auto-harmonising software for a while yet, I suggest you get down to your local library or internet-ready-computer and start studying harmony basics in order to either sing or play the harmony line.
also, if you can read and play music, Choir Boy actually does quite a good job of shifting the monophonic-input (vocal, trumpet..) your chosen interval.
or you could always get hold of a cheap old yamaha thingy with auto-harmony, play the chords single-finger-stylee with your left hand, and any old shit with your right hand, or maybe the melody you want to harmonise against, record the output into <your chosen midi sequencer> and dump that midi info into Melodyne.
I get MUCH more satisfaction laying down the main line, and singing or playing the harmony on top, even if it takes a couple of hours to get it right..

Digitech have some devices doing a rather nice job on this. You'd still have to enter the chords manually after feeding it with the input of your choice.
In VST land, there's that Steinberg thingy (don't remember the name) but it was supposed to be highly buggy and close to being unuseable in a realtime context as latency was way too high. And then there's all sorts of vocoders, basically doing what you're after - just that the sound won't be any natural or so.
I also heard some good things about the AKAI plugins but have actually never seen them in use at all.
I sometimes wich that Digitech thingy would be available as a VSTi.
