In the golden age of laptops, THIS tool must exist!

Well you see, I use a laptop and VSTi´s for live gigging. I use V-stack as a host at the moment. Among others I play in a metal band and make pretty complex patches. So I have saved each one in its own project file. This is why I between songs have to turn to the laptop and quickly load a new song-file. This is a real turn-off for me.

IF ONLY...
...there existed a general tool for loading files via MIDI data. It could be really easy. Just open the tool and drag the files you want to be able to trigger later onto a "patch-list". Each element of this list should have its own program- and bank-change number so when the tools receives this data on a given MIDI channel it should load the connected file. It could be anything really: V-STACK presets, mp3 songs, you name it!

This way I can go back to just have to push a button on my motherkeyboard once every song and still have the power of complex mixed VSTi´s. Wouldn´t this be just great?

Oh, and I can´t do programming :)

What do you guys think? Does it already excist?

And I believe Brainspawn Forte (although I've not used that feature, I use the computer keyboard to advance the scene).

Developing this idea one step further (or this may be actually what you were wanting) imagaine a browser such as in Ableton Live 4 which enables you to drag in whole songs including all audio+fx & midi+vsti+fx settings, and possibly even an arrangement. Kind of like joining livesets as they are currently with all automation and everything. You could mix from one choon to another in a flexible order, but element by element, without having to have everything already in the one huge liveset or without dragging in exported audio from the browser track by track..

This would make my life so much easier it's not funny!!

*sigh*

If anyone can suggest a workaround- all ears =D

I would check out Plogue Bidule as well. From the specs it seems it'd just be doing what you're after.

Those who can do maths and those who can't.
