the mention the oscar filter in there blurb - these people aren't the ones that did the imposcar filter are they ?
I believe every thread should devolve into character attacks and witch-burning. It really helps the discussion.

I wasn't aware that Basement Arts were part of the GMedia team, but it's possible. Lots of people mention OSCar filters, but usually it's just talk. GMedia have nailed it though.the mention the oscar filter in there blurb - these people aren't the ones that did the imposcar filter are they ?
They said they'd licensed their filters to a "reputable" 3rd party...I never found out yet who that is - I suppose it could be this lot?
I wouldn't be prepared to believe the blurb until I actually hear the filter though....OSCar filters, Korg MS filters - many VSTi devs claim to sound like them, but rarely if ever even come close.

Eric, I believe GMedia liscenced their filters to Spectrasonics, but the question here is, who actually made the ImpOscar filter. We know the Ohmies have worked on Oddity and Minimonsta, but I'm not sure whether or not ImpOscar was coded entirely in house at G-Media or if they went outside for the filter.
I'm sorry this post wasn't about techno.

i seem to remember reading that it was in-house, but i can't think where - but I suspect this si another one - it defintely doesnt mention the imposcar filter.

I believe Jon Hodgson was the bloke who did most of the work on ImpOSCar. Not sure where else we have seen his work, but the GMedia info says he worked on ImpOSCar for two years, so presumably he was on the payroll rather than just contracted out.Funkybot wrote:...but the question here is, who actually made the ImpOscar filter. If frantic sounds as the videos are shown, then i think this filter is really really fat. we must wait for a demo so that we can check it out ourself.
99 euros for frantic untill 15 may 2005, after that 129 euros. so i think i will wait for a demo before i will buy this one. price is ok when its sounds as it said. moog, korg or sherman hardware boxes are much more expensive.
i check out some other filters and for my mind is that nitro has good basic sound, but the resonance is very static and clean. filterscape from u-he is nice, but no revolution. the resoance is very very limited, so no self oscilation and less filtertypes.

I think its wearth to check our filter, NWRCFil also. It's cheap, easy to use, can be customized and sounds warm, smooth and has very high resonance levels, and almost never distorts..
However, only a lowpass filter, but with 2p and 4p modes.

Yup - that's right. He did all the programming. I met him at the Messe, and he is a very, very nice guy. Had a bit of a chat with him about making them, and it sounds like it involved a lot of really detailed research. Still, I reckon the results were worth itI believe Jon Hodgson was the bloke who did most of the work on ImpOSCar
