as said by many here, its the talent of the user, not the host. the host and plugs of course impact it, but to answer your question, i use FL studio and love it, and i think ive made some pro grade music as well.
"What are everyone's thoughts? What's the most professional song made with FL that you can think of?" i cant think of just 1, but the huge community at www.sectionz.com has produced many things of amazing quality and the community is mostly FL users.
Is any profressional music actually made with FLStudio?

I work with fruity over a year now and I did not notice any sound colouring. My results do not sound "professional" but that is due to my lack of skill not to fruity.
There is only one thing missing in fruity IMHO, that is a clever implementation of midi controllers. Everything works fine as long as you only want to record a melody. But if you want to use modwheel or sustain pedal you need to do some time consuming workarounds.

it's not about the tools it's what you do with it. Khonnor for example did an album on FL and you can't understand how he did it in FL. so that's good

I read somewhere that Terminal Soundsystem produced their music with FL Studio
and it's predecessor - Fruity Loops.
Their music I would call 'made professional'.
Especially their later releases are worth to check out

if by professional you mean famous, not many.
if by professional you mean not necessarily famous but bands that have some prestige in their style, you should count PORTION CONTROL, an EBM-industrial band, one of the pioneers in this style, they began in the early 80's and came back 2 years ago with an album made 100% with software; they used FL Studio as one of their main sequencers, as they not only said in an interview but admitted when I sent them an email asking about it.
And also PROEM, an IDM band in the style of Plaid, Aphex Twin or Autechre. Not very famous but they do have 3 or 4 albums out.

You know, all these debates about hosts and FLStudio seems to get it in the neck more than most. But this comment has to be one of the most ludicrous...

What utter nonsense - if most people use the bundled FL sounds, then that's their problem not the problem of the software. I don't think I've ever used a FLS plug or preset...that's what this site is for.

in the last issue of German KEYS you can find an interview with Heiko Laux of Kanzleramt. He is also using FL in parts of his productions. Same with Diego of Kanzleramt. Not that I like their music, but it is well produced!

I suspect it doesn't colour the audio, beyond the effects and synths having there own character (though critics would say that all software sounds the same, lifless, cold, brittle). I find it unlikely that its basic mixing method has enough effect on the sound to really be classed as colouring it. Any effect its mixing could have on the sound would certainly be hidden underneath all the differences in different audio or synths and effects anyway.

how many of these guys use anything much other than hardware, pt, logic or nuendo
answer next to none - there will be a few on saw studio and sequoia but the numbers will be steadily diminishing
are they using these because they are the best - or just what they learned on ?
i suspect it is the latter so if you use your talent you could make fruity more internationally known
but that is not to knock fruity

Meh i don't know why you're excluding hiphop from it. 9th wonder did a track for the last jay-z album on fruity on his laptop, and hey i don't know about you but jay-z cd sounds quite 'pro' to me, multimillion seller, multiplatinum producers involved, and track made in fruity stands nicely between neptunes' ones : )
That i know some dnb and some trance get made everyday in fl, and you should factor in all the people that use fl just as a drummachine plugin in another host.

Jay-Z "Threat" prod. by 9th Wonder on the famous "Black Album" was produced in FL Studio... FLStudio is more than capable of making professional music. I dont know of any major songs produced in FL but that doesnt mean that they dont exist.

It's just a software app. It doesn't make music of it's own. Whatever you feed in will be processed and you'll get the output. that's the basic principle of all softwares. input -> process -> output. so it's upto the users and their input. I love it's piano roll and ease of use. nothing can beat that and it does make life better.
