Is any profressional music actually made with FLStudio?

I'd definitely go as far as to say you can do anything with FL as long as you know what you're doing. And I certainly haven't noticed that infamous "FL sound", and noone has ever told me when hearing my tunes "oh, this must be FL" either. Then again, I hardly ever use any of the built-in generators or effects (although some actually ARE useful).

If you know your way around FL (you should, having used it since 2.0), you really should know the answer to your own question I reckon... I haven't used it that long (still, it's been a while now) but have no doubts about the results I can get.

If this helps I'm working on a project which is already signed by Universal, and I'm using FL.

Thanks for the replies, guys.

I've been thinking about this a lot lately, and I'm starting to feel silly about considering paying for another host.

I took a look at some of my favorite songs that I consider to be produced perfectly, like this one I have on vinyl for instance:

Dieselboy + Kaos - Barrier Break (sorry if you don't like DnB)

And what makes this a great track?

-Perfectly balanced
-Compressed to perfection
-Perfect bass and beat that fit together just right
-A lot of FX seamlessly thrown in
-Thick, rich pads in the breakdown
-constantly evolving (no 2 parts of the song sound exactly the same)
-random, meaningless VOX used 6 times
--EDIT--
Oh yea, and originality, imagination, etc. 8)

And when you think: All of this can be done with FL with the right plug-ins. It really is a matter of talent.

And of coarse a song made in FL is going to be "colored" if it is made with only the native samples and synths. The same goes for most hosts, actually.

Man, If you feel the sound is in a $50 casio toy, then thats it. Its all about having a great idea, and translating it well into your sequencer.

For that you need talent. Doesnt matter what you use to a certain amount. FL is capable of producing anything if you are
Amen.

If you can download an MP3 from the web and tell me what application sent the MIDI data to the plug-ins then you're wasted around here.

Analogue or digital – which is better? There's only one way to find out... FI-I-IGHT!!!

Fruityloops has a nice sequencer, but overall I'd agree with what everyone else is saying... it's really a matter of how you use it. If you're trying to produce traditional band music "drums, bass, guitar, vox, etc" then don't use fruity. If you're doing electronic or hip hop then Fruity works almost as well as anything else out there. Personally, I prefer Ableton Live, but I've used Fruity in the past on a few tracks.

Are people *really* having this conversation. There is not a song I couldnt make exactly the same in Sonar, project 5, fl studio, orion, tracktion, cubarse, or whatever. AS long as I can record audio, sequence midi note data, and rewire in Reason, then the host I use doesnt even matter.

A track sounds "pro" because time is taken to produce, mix and master it well. All hosts have their strengths in workflow, and that is why you should choose, not because you think it sounds a certain way.

Too much attention gets paid to geeky details sometimes. If you can do what you want to do in yer application and it feels natural to you, then who gives a f**k what host yer using?

I think, in a kind of "oh-lordy-here-comes-the-new-pope-amen" way, that I agree 100% with Mr. S_A_P

Amen.

But what will the new pope think of fruity? Will he recognise that FL is out there and reach out to the FL community ,or will he say its a 'work of the devil'?

Post

The new pope (go Ratzi!) will use his Jedi-powers and tell everyone "Frutus lupus rocksit".

Now, that's funny,,,

Wicked vid... cool to see some major producers are using it as their only tool :D
