Yeah, according to Cakewalk, the "official" shipping date, for Project 5 v2.0, is April 21st. If past Cakewalk releases are any indication, the demo version, will be available within about 30 days, of the ship date.

HI

Don't worry I am sure we can let you know how GOOD (or mediocre) it is.

within 30 days, that is just plain stupid strategy. Instead of providing the demo when there is lots of buzz around it, they will make pepole wait and probably lots will loose interest. Most copanies release the demo on the same release date.

You have a point there. Coming from an engineering/manufacturing background though, I can remember too many times when we had to work our asses off just to get a product out the door on-time. I imagine the same thing happens with software (how many software releases have been delayed?). So if your engineers are fully busy with finishing the product for release, how can they have time to prepare a demo for the same delivery date? So if a demo is delayed from the release date I bet that it is a regrettable resource issue, not a marketing one. If I was running Cakewalk I would want both versions to be available at the same time, but if I had to choose I would obviously have the retail version finished first. Who knows, maybe Cakewalk will release the demo any day now.

30 days? ah crap. I have already checked their site 4-5 times today just to see if a demo is up. I cannot wait for 30 days. damn.

Not 100% sure, but isn't the Tracktion demo a beta version?

No, it is the official demo. As far as I know, T2 is finished, but they are still working out which 3rd party plugins to bundle.
