Hi all
I was looking for a vsti which could allow me an 8bit input sampling and a non aliased output at least ( which happens when converting from 8 to 16bits etc.)
Anyone does know something?

You don't need a plugin, 'cause this (8->16 bits)would normally be dealt with in an audio editor. And most sample players can handle it quite reasonable (as far as possible)
Not that it would really help: you can never get back the info that's gone in the 8bits sample. You'd need to apply some low-pass filtering, which would make the aliasing less but the over-all sound worse. A lost case imho...

Thx for your comments
Maybe I explained wrongly my thought. Non-aliased output: I mean, if a sampler has a 16/24 bits output and it's playing an 8 bit sample it normally would convert it to the higher bitrate and this would result into aliased sound,is it? a lpf won't help me so much...so what?

8 -> 24 bits you mean... Still, no aliasing indeed! You just hear a crap sample bitdepth, and it manifests itself at the high frequencies.

Yes, it's impossible for any aliasing to be introduced in bitdepth conversions. It's just not a side-effect of the process - aliasing is a frequency overflow, and more bits won't affect the frequency in any way - unless imaging can alias, which I haven't heard of.

aliasing is in relationship with low/high samplerate not with low/high bitdepth.
