I'm sitting here halfway thru making a sample library and stumble across a MINOR problem.

Alot of samples click in a few select sample players while they sound perfect in others. Is it me or is it the sample player who gone bad ?

I have 2 links to help pursue this MINOR problem.

1.

Link to a small looped 24 bit sample.

http://www.qnull.net/downloads/XSW2100.wav

Use SAVE AS if you wanna try the sample loop!!

2.

Link to how this sample plays depending on sample player.

This 14 sec 16bit wav file contains 5 sample players playing the loop.

The key is C1 or C0, depends on player.

1. player = VSampler 3 (no click)
2. player = Wusikstation (CLICK)
3. player = Kontakt (CLICK)
4. player = Reason NN-XT (no click)
5. player = sfz (no click)

It's you ;)

The start of the wave file is about -30dB and the end of the file is at infinity. So you won't get a clean loop.

Now thats weird cause wavelab says it starts at +2dB and end at +2dB.

Which editor you use fishfinger ?

The first -30dB peak in the sample is at 1.8ms

Try this I trimmed it in Audition to full sample loop

ok i can see that Sound Forge shows the loop as starting at -30 and ending on inf. but wavelab shows it as perfect +2% to +2% loop. Now i'm looking for a why reason.

EDIT: I used wrong display type in wavelab so now its the same as sound forge, but still the loop plays perfect in wavelab and the issue about sample players playing it with or without click.

The ones I posted click for you, just to be clear?

Yes Spe3D, they clicked and have wrong key mapping and are not seen as loops. They also have something none valid data found by both Sound Forge and Wavelab.

Here you go I made a WusiK wave for you to load into any of the Wusik vstis

pop it into the sample section of the databank, load it up - this will not click - if it does click then something is up with your set-up imo.

Thx Spe3D :) Feel like doing 2000 more ? ;)

The problem is why some players play the XSW2100.wav without click and others play with click.

In Wavelab the sample starts at -32.95dB and ends at -35.08dB, this margin should be so small that players should play it without click.

If you do a check in Sound Forge the sample looks like it starts at -30db and ends at inf. Sound Forge cant zoom any closer.

We have 3 players (Reason NN-XT, sfz and VSampler) playing it right and 3 players (Kontakt, Wusik and EnergyXT) playing it wrong, or is it the other way round ? heh heh

Perhabs there is some format thing which im not aware of.

It's possible that some of the sample players do a very short fade-in of the sample, which would eliminate the click
