Hi all,

A good friend suggested using Waves L1 & L2. I was previously using Waves RComp on my kick, and when turning it off, and using Waves L2 instead, I am absolutely AMAZED at the quality. It truly is f'ing brilliant.

Can someone tell me - what is the difference between Waves L1, Waves L1+ and Waves L2? Is any particularly better than the other, or more suitable to use in certain circumstances? Any recommendations

Also - I am curious - what do these L1 & L2 'ultramaximisers' technically do? How are they different to a compressor? Are they essentially a compressor? The way my friend explained it is that it is a like a multiband compressor with MANY bands, and is basically automated.

Any info would be greatly appreciated :)

Kind Regards,
EoN

Well... I guess it's all written in the manual. However, didn't you check up on those plug-ins before you spent so much money? Strange world this is.

This is what waves.com says about L2:
The heart of the L2 plug-in is the proprietary brick wall look-ahead peak limiter algorithm plus Waves IDR ™ (Increased Digital Resolution) dithering technology, with ninth-order noise-shaping. The L2 is the next step in peak limiting and level maximization with ARC ™(Automatic Release Control) to add the extra gain you need to master your projects. The L2-Ultramaximizer plug-in can give you the ultimate sound and power!

the schematic is like this: in -> [ magic ] -> out

so did you got both just because of the wave's brandname?

try putting one's head in a compressor and turn the dial all the way to "implode" ...now that's thump

Just curious, aren't there working demo-versions of the Waves range of products? I mean, just because a friend recommended and he tried it right awaw doesn't mean he's pirated or bought it, it could just as well mean he's tried the demo...

I love all that Self righteousness!
