I'm confused by the help of FL Studio 5 regarding the Cut/Cut By functions in the Miscellaneous Channel Settings menu.

I understand that the note is cut by itself or another instrument in Fruity Loops. What I don't understand is what the channel numbers are and how they are assigned. Are the numbers arbitrary, are they assigned when one hits Cut Itself, or is there another method?

Also, how is this useful?

Thanks. :)

if you want, for example, to have an open hihat to end when the closed hihat is triggered. you would set the cut by number to be, let's say, 5 at the open hihat channel and the cut should be also number 5 in the closed hihat channel...numbers are there to choose as you please...if you hit cut itself then the sample will end itself if it's longer then the note that's being triggered...i hope i was helpful...

Yup, that's it right there... very easy to use once you get how it's done.

Ohhh nice...Been using FL since 2.7 and I had never bothereed to find out what that was. LOL. A video game magazine should dedicate an issue to "FL Studio tips and tricks" edition.

You know if you've been using it that long you should have figured out by now

You know there's a decent manual available through the help menu as well, right?
