Just gave this plug a spin and have to say that it's a SUPERB sounding limiter. I really like the way it sounds when pushed hard. IMHO it's in the same league as Elephant, ozone, waves L2 etc with a flavour of it's own. Incredible that it's free!
Cheers!

Yeah, it's got a kind of 1176/LA-34 thing going on, love it. This is a serious, permanent addition to the plugfolio!

Ehehehhe.. easy there. Yes, I think it's got a very usable sound of it's own. Elephant El-3 mode is good, but doesn't work on everything. Daniels limiter is definately a very worthy addition to ANY arsenal, no matter how much $$$$$ spent on plugins.

Yes, I should be clear too; I meant that the two-knob, pumping effect was reminiscent of those good old vintage compressors! I don't want to start any unfulfilling rumours...

The reason i got excited is because you said it was in the same league, and for me that means it will distort very little when pushed hard and when it does it will do so with a nice flavour. Of course i am not expecting the same sound. For the record I have Elephant bmanic.bmanic wrote:Ehehehhe.. easy there. Yes, I think it's got a very usable sound of it's own. slightly OT:
I think it's fantastic how much usefull stuff you can get for free...for example the IQ4(gui) dynamic EQ/compressor (by platinumears) is easily is just as good as the sonalksis plugs and now this limiter sounding as good as Waves L2!

And that's exactly why I compared it to the 1776, et al.popsych wrote:...that means it will distort very little when pushed hard and when it does it will do so with a nice flavour...
Did you get a chance to try it? What do you think?

I am really liking this thing. You can push it pretty hard without a mix getting too muddy. At 5 and 6 dB on the Gain Reduction meter it is giving a big solid sound on my mix for a funk style tune. It compares well against Finis and Elephant - amazing quality for a freebie.
Hats off to Daniel for his work on this one.
